I Went from Having Fun to Really Hating this Game.

The more I play this game, the more frustrated I get. SOOO many skills are built around charge generation/spending, and yet the mechanics for actually generating said charges are TOTAL ASS. You have to jump through these ridiculous hoops so you can do 1 attack with somewhat reasonable damage, meanwhile meta builds are running around clearing multiple screens with a single button.
Endurance Charges: -30% to gain a charge for heavy stunning enemies 20% to gain a charge for armour breaking ..and that's literally it for options to generate charges. SERIOUSLY? and you cant even socket Charge Profusion in those for the chance to get additional charges since the base skill itself isn't generating charges. In a more general sense, every single build I have attempted in 0.3 has run into this problem where I have these problems I have to solve with the build, which is cool, but the game gives you 0 actual solutions for these problems. My mana stacker has no way of dealing with Light Stuns, my Trinity Monk can't weapon swap because Charged Staff doesn't stay on your Quarterstaff when you weapon swap, my Infernal Cry build can't generate endurance charges, and my Mortar Cannon grenade guy can't see a freaking thing on my screen besides giant orange explosions. I guess I had some fun along the way trying to get these builds to actually function, even though none of them really do, but in all reality at this point I am just so disappointed with PoE 2. It feels like none of what was promised with this game has actually been delivered, its just more of the same PoE 1 1 button can't see shit on my screen zoomer nonsense. EDIT: Oh and by the way if you somehow get your build to function, you also need 150% rarity on gear or its just trash. Bleh. I avoid skills that require conditional requirements to be used like the plague. Makes gameplay clunky as hell.
Unfortunately most skills are exactly like this because they want "combo playstile" which i hate and will never remove my negative review from steam until they renounce the combo crap mentality. I play this game every day and still gave a negative review that's how much i despise using combos. Because you get to pick a skill you love and that skill must be used in combination with another skill that either has a cooldown, a detonation time, a + seconds added to attack animation or a conditional charge you don't even have. Makes combat super clunky and even if by miracle you find two skills you can use together that don't have a hidden bottleneck, then the bottleneck becomes your finger because your ingame attack speed you invested so much into just passes that job to you on how fast you can manualy push two buttons together while getting light stunned, slowed down or canceled. I spend more time in Path of Building then in the actual game trying to solve the issues of my build trying to do workaround akward combos. Most of the time game offers no solutions to the problem it creates. Other times it's super expensive and makes you sacrifice crucial gear pieces for mediocre uniques that are just a one trick poney. For Endurance Charges for example you can heavy invest in +1 rage on melee hit up to even getting 20 rage per hit and use the insanely expensive gloves that give you a random charge when you hit max rage. But even that is clunky as the bottleneck becomes the 0.5 second limit on generating new rage and the sacrifice required to get there is super questionable. In other words, 10/10 game, would not recomand. Still Sane Exile? แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย PayneK#3102 เมื่อ 18 ต.ค. 2025 15:35:02

Yeah. Skill balance is really bad. The first or second league I gave GGG the benefit of the doubt, but the latest patches have been suspiciously bad.
How is elemental expression ever suppose to be good? or blood boil? What made me suspicious was the surrounded passives in the Merc tree. Why would I ever want to be surrounded? Then you realize there is a new unique that reduce how many mobs it takes to be surrounded and the light bulb clicks. There's a bunch of nodes in the passive tree that only exist to be taken when you have this one unique. At this point I assume that skills are weak intentionally. There no way the math works out the weakest skills. Everything is hyper specific to one setup with very, very few synergies. The only reason you have 3 different type of charges it to prevent interaction. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย darrenrob82#3531 เมื่อ 18 ต.ค. 2025 18:13:07

I played Diablo 3 a decade ago and it was actually cool. My Monk did this spin to group enemies up, I hit them with this exploding Palm attack thing, then did a big finisher to explode the pack. I had giga cooldowns I could blow on a rare pack, and every skill complimented the next. Even better I could play with other people and our skills would all compliment the other players. Of course D3 had other problems, but it wasn't the gameplay. Remember in D2 going to a Baal fight and you had a Barb to give you that cool defensive shout and the Druid to give you the Heart of Oak or whatever it was called. That was so fun! I tried multiplayer in PoE 2 once, I just followed this guy around the map while he exploded the entire screen (literally I couldnt see anything), and just followed him around picking up loot. What a disappointment.
Ive been playing PoE 1 on and off since the endgame was farming Docks in Act 3. I have fun for a few weeks theorycrafting out a build, but then at some point you realize all you're doing is "right click right click flame dash right click" and you're like, am I playing a video game or not this is [Removed by Support] my cat could sit on my keyboard and do this. The devs have talked for hours and hours about how PoE 2 would not be that, and yet what do we have is exactly that same freaking thing. And the crazy part is people seem to enjoy it, they love having all their skills automated and everything automatically triggering other effects with just the press of a single button. There are Youtube videos out there titled "AFK Farming 1 Button God" like thats cool? I guess its a winning formula, plenty of people besides me seem to enjoy PoE 1, I just wish GGG had the stones to just say "we're making PoE 1 with some iteration to the gem system and better graphics" and just call it a day instead of hours and hours of talking out their asses about stuff that doesnt exist in the game at all. Visual Clarity? Supports that add unique interactions to your skills and arent just generic damage multipliers. Actual gameplay where a variety of skills interact with eachother for meaningful effect. All of this was promised, none of it exists, and every patch we get moves us further away from it ever existing, and it all makes me very, very sad. I think GGG is a great company, I was so excited to play this game hoping it would fix the issues I had with 1, but they just ported all the same crappy systems from 1 into 2 and now theres just no going back. Maybe Titan Quest will be decent. IGN: Eso_Es แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย Cameron_GGG#0000 เมื่อ 18 ต.ค. 2025 22:12:27

" " Well first I can just say that I too am annoyed that there's all these ways to use generated mechanics, but a severe lack of way to actually generate the things. So many skills that consume charges or infusions, that I won't have, because there's just not ways to get them. And the rarity issue is a big issue. I'm sick of needing to dedicate half my build to a looting stat just to get the looting experience to a minimum tolerable level. That aside: Some things exist explicitly to provide synergies, or to make up for something else not being done, allowing it to not be done. You mention those surrounded passives going with that one unique, and you're absolutely right. Those clusters exist to synergize with that helmet. Also with increases to presence size, but mostly that helmet. They added the helmet, then created passives to go with it, or vice versa, to create a new building synergy that in turn causes additional builds to exist. That's not a flaw, it's a feature. Similarly, the mana stacker has corresponding synergies. Stun resist comes from life, or energy shield with the right passives. If you make the decision to make a build that is too lacking in those to resist stuns, then you itemize for it instead. Because that's part of the build. You could try to build enough stun threshold affixes, or you just equip Eye of Chayula to make yourself automatically immune to light stun. If you make a character that is intentionally lacking in the stats to avoid being stunned, and you don't account for your own build by itemizing accordingly, that's your mistake. It's not a situation of "don't have a solution for this problem", it's a situation where a given problem has two solutions; building the corresponding stats or using gear that makes you immune, and if you choose to use neither then you have to suffer the failing of the build. |

Anything with conditions is bad. I just avoid all those skills for now which doesn't really leave much else in the game to play with. Hence game kinda dies quickly when you try to theorycraft and keep hitting brick walls. There's also other issues with the game:
- Can't generate charges quickly. So things like Lich 40% dmg when consuming a power charge is not worth doing. - Most skills are weapon restricted. So can't put together some interesting interactions. - Mana costs get too high with lvl30+ skills, which you absolutely want for spells as it's the main source of damage scaling. Any damage dealing spell you are self casting needs mana investment. So it ends up being not worth doing. - Any spell that requires an infusion sucks unless you can automate it, but things like that costs a lot of spirit so it's almost always not worth trying out. All I've been doing recently is theorycrafting and almost every skill has something it requires that makes it bad. So much so that I don't want to make another character this league. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย SaiyanZ#3112 เมื่อ 19 ต.ค. 2025 05:46:49

Eh, sounds like just another saturday night rent following a death in-game.
" Yeah I miss that, GGG still haven't figured some parts of D2 that was so great. Tech guy
