Mapping is useless. Why?
|
I'm a new player.
I've invested nearly 400 hours in the game. I feel my gear and build is pretty strong. I like the game a lot but I can't stand the fact that mapping is very useless. It consumes a lot of time with no reward. 280% rarity + omens + run by abyssal + 40% rare monsters tablets with rarity tablets. I've tried everything and I get a divine every 3 business days. It takes me 5-7 min to clear a map fully juiced and no reward... It's crazy that I can make more currency trading with Ange from base than actually playing the game. My question is... Is this intentional? Developers intentionally made mapping the least rewarding mechanic in the game? That's crazy to cause mapping is when I feel I'm playing the game, testing my build and observing the results from my grinding. ขุดครั้งสุดท้าย เมื่อ 27 ต.ค. 2025 22:37:44

Hey mate,
I'm nearly 4k hours played in PoE and whilst that may seem alot, it isn't. But I have played PoE since the beginning and although I consider myself a casual I feel I can help you here. Mapping as a mechanic... Forget trying to make it happen, you'll only be disappointed. Juiced maps haven't been profitable for a while, more so if your trying to do it solo. It was only really viable when in a full party. It did make a comeback with the introduction of T17 maps however, you would need to target certain sources of profit like Strongboxes/Scarabs and invest into buffing them like rare expensive scarabs, maven chisels and raw chaos orbs to roll the map modififers + Quantity/Rarity. The profit from these was not in just raw divines that dropped, but in picking up and selling all the chump change currency (Chromatic, Vaal's, Fusing, Jewelers and even Alterations), over a set of 20 maps you would find you'll have made much more from selling the low currency than in just pure divine drops. But to note T17 maps have recieved a small nerf to Quant/Rarity with this upcoming league so probably not the best profit option to go for. With that all said onto what may help you. Stop thinking about maps as a mechanic but more of an area for you do do League Mechanics in. All are very profitable, some more so than others but generally require higher initial investment to get going. I would try some out properly, research and invest into them and see if you find them enjoyable. League Mechanics when juiced are where you really get to test your builds and the rewards are much better over time. You will still have moments of little to no reward but you will encounter them less than mapping. Any mechanic I've invested in, I have always walked away with decent profit. With this league though your in luck. Mapping is where your going to find the breaches and breaches is what will "hopefully" net good coin from doing the tree crafting thing :) |

The problem with currency drops in mapping is how they seem to have implemented greater and perfect currency.
Any currency drop seems to check if it adds to the Greater / Perfect pool If it does you don't get a drop unless the pool is filled up If it doesn't you get a normal currency drop and rarity seems to apply here. If you run level 71 maps the amount of currency you get will greatly increase. This is due to most of the greater and perfect currency drops not being available until level 72 or above. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย Fyrel#3118 เมื่อ 26 ต.ค. 2025 04:53:29

Ange doesn't give exp.

Today I farmed 10 juiced and 10 1-2 mod magic maps in order. I found zero valuable drops in juiced ones. Literal zero. And one magic map gave me 2 divines. So, something is very off about the math I guess. Unless GGG is doing this out of years of hatred towards its insatiable community, it must be completely random number based.
Another fun fact is the Sealed Vaults. I could have sold the idol for a lot more than the boss loot today, but I love boss fight, so I killed the boss and returned to my hideout with a big middle finger, probably a finger from Mr. Jonathan's vision. " you only need exp till level 94 (maybe 96). and it's very achievable without any hassle. after that mapping is useless |
|
" The whole point of the game is leveling up (for me). Without that aspect it's pointless grinding currency for no reason. |

If mapping is so useless, where do you think the items you flip come from?

I doubt you tried everything you can fairly easy achieve 2-4 divs per hour of mapping. All you need is 90+% rarity, 90+% rare monsters, 36+% delirium, then slot it breach, irradiated and any other waystone of your choice. Its that easy. Giga unlucky? You can farm sekhemas for desperate alliance, spectrum jewels etc. that'll definitely give you 2-4 div per hour, well actually way more but whatever.
