poe1 is pretty much a dead game. it is more than 10 years old. the graphics is terrible. the mechanics are bloated and the game defects are severe and beyond rectification.

the way i look at it.... no amount of re-programming and re-work is going to make poe1 better.

the amount of players might rise up a little bit at the launch of a new season poe1. this is pretty much due to hype. but hype doesn't last long. hence you will see that the population in poe1 will simply just drop off swiftly within a couple of weeks. pretty soon, it would be back to just 4 digits of population.

it would be much better for ggg to stop development on poe1 and put all the focus on poe2. when i say stop development, i don't mean pull the plug on poe1. what i mean is that ggg can keep the standard server of poe1 running for people who like to play poe1. just stop putting resources on new seasons for poe1.

go big on poe2. that's the future where ggg belongs.

biggest thing poe1 has going for it is that people can still have fun there. poe2 has the "no fun allowed" mentality and it will probably never change. no amount of flashy graphics and whatever else can make up for the lack of fun in poe2.

patch 0.3 is a good example. it started out great, people were having fun and when the devs noticed it, boom they released that patch to stop the fun
