skills and their unnecessary animations

There are skills that use sometimes 'cool' but unnecessary animations.
Or animations that make playing them as your main skill, very annoying.

My example is escape shot. I tried to level up a new character with it.
It was somewhat cool to use up until jamanra fight.
Jamanra creates the bubble and as I am trying to kill his adds, my character jumps out of the bubble and the animation is so long, I pretty much get instantly killed because of that.
And this really sucks, because it is not a player-skill issue, it is an issue of the animation of a skill - in this case escape shot.

And btw I didn't die once up until jamanra, and wouldn't have died at jamanra either, would escape shot not have such a bad and unnecessary animation if you want to use it as your main skill.

And I kinda find it dumb creating skills purposely for players to not use it as their main skill -> disengage is another one of these skills.

This kind of skill creation on the devs' side, further limit the use of skills while things like the meta already limits skill-use by players in every league, or the huge lack of balancing skills across the board.

There are other skills that also have useless animations like charge-up skills.

I get that maybe 1 out of 1000 players wants to use them. Fine they should, as they are.

But if you want to make these skills more accessible to the vast majority of players, change something about it.

And my idea of changing a thing about it would simply be, add a checkbox on the skills, when you have them equipped, you can select 'skip animation' and it would skip those kind of animations.

Now you might think some of these skills would be too overpowered if you'd simply skip the animation.

Fine. Tune them down damage-wise. Or whatever comes to mind for you to feel that they will be somewhat balanced.


-Perfect strike for example is a skill I will never use. Because of the bad animation it has. What fun is it, if the skill does a lot of damage but needs a lot of time to charge up? For me I don't see the fun of it.

-Molten blast also has an annoying animation. Why does your character need to perform a 'dance' before the actual skill is used? Sure you might can somehow keep control of it by stacking attack speed like crazy. But not everybody wants to do so.

-Sunder too, if you don't skill a ton of attack speed, this skill is so slow and annoying.

-Stampede likewise.

-Hammer of the gods indeed the same.

I don't wanna try and list more skills, you get the idea.

And if you don't take my word for how bad it is to use them, check your statistics for skill-use by players across the board. And ask yourself why do players not use them?
It's not everytime a damage-issue. Sometimes it's an annoying animation that a player just don't want to face everytime he uses it, when otherwise the skill could be cool and would open up more paths of skill-usage.

It would simply be more fun in general to have more available options, that are functioning well.

Having 200 skill gems and only like 20 of them are worth using (just as an example) is kind of worrying.

I get that you wanna display how cool your coding and animation development skills are but sometimes it's just over the line.
Poe 2 back again. New trade system not flawless but still good.
