In regards of the recent changes to the pillar monkeys id like to say a few things.
I understand that when people have to fight a boss for extended periods, because they have low damage or sth like that, bosses with a lot of damage or one shots could be really frustrating. I think nerfing them for this case is fair but maybe we can bring that more fun and challenging aspect back in another way. Because without that challenge bosses are lacking something in my opinion. I think one could do a mechanic for most bosses that let them get enraged when players are dealing good dps. That could let them stack sth like dmg reduction and damage and let them retaliate(some bosses maybe even with a combo). After the retaliation the stacks would be gone and you could finish it if your dps is that good. That would fix making overly long bossfights frustrating because they dont retaliate as hard then and in the same time make bosses more interesting for high dps builds because you actually have to care about what the boss does. People who have really good builds even in campaign are in a good spot anyway and often times good players so giving them at least some trouble and not letting them completely obliterate through the entire campaign wouldnt hurt i think. Of course that dmg reduction and so on should be able to be overcome sometime in end game. Sadly I feel that this game is not fun anymore. All the late end game boss fight is like a death match. Either your build can do instant kill or face a very high risk of dying by the bosses mechanic i.e. small space with aoe, or aoe fiesta or mega size boss with mega size aoe that guaranteed a 1 hit KO. As for the game economy, it's a joke like the state of economy in real life. lol.
I bet that many will quit the game once they've reached late game disappointment especially with boss fight unless they are willing to spend more buying currency to get super tier gearing so that they can enjoy the fight. |

I think they should increased the boss life and defend by 90%
and make their attacks less lethal, then in a map version it could be stronger since you would already learned the patterns and a mistake be more punishing No money until, GGG fix melee.

Why do bosses turn to you while they're slamming? You roll to dodge it and they just turn and slam you anyway. I froze Jamanra the Abomination mid slam and got behind him and he just turned 180 and slammed me as soon as he thawed. It's mostly gear wall instead of being skill based and that's not what I like in an ARPG.
I've been a fan of PoE 1 for 12 years but I'm going to have to say that I'm not a fan of PoE 2. Good graphics but not good game play. Edit: I beat him but after a long grueling grind having to hit him with ranged skills. I wouldn't be so bad if the second phase had adds to fill potions. It makes life regen a requirement so I had to respec to use a unique regen amulet. I'm just trying to play blind no tutorials or build guides. Jamanra, the Abomination is harder than uber Elder, uber Atziri and top level Katarina. Not something I expected out of act 2. Path of Exile 2 and I have a sacred agreement. Its bosses will one-shot me, and I'll trivialize everything with lightning arrow/spear/spark.
jk jk :) I think a big issue with bosses is that they were designed with the assumption that you'll rarely fight them. Each map in the campaign would have 1 boss, but in the endgame, only 1 in 4 maps used to have a boss, and you know if it would have a boss ahead of time. In that case, I think it was okay to make bosses "epic". The Monkey boss was scary, but it was just an optional boss in the campaign, nothing more. It wasn't mandatory. Now, not only is the monkey boss mandatory on several end-game areas, you can randomly encounter them from summoning circles, vaal circles, etc. If bosses are so common, they stop being special, and start being really annoying. That's what bosses have become in PoE2. To half-agree, half-disagree with the OP: I wish bosses had more even difficulty. Something that gets you using more of your flasks... Something where you lose over four or five poor exchanges with a boss doling out steady pressure instead of, like, two or three after getting clipped by attacks that do 90% of your effective life in one swing.
I don't say this cuz I find the bosses too hard (the campaign has been crazy easy this league) but because they are awkwardly short and volatile. They don't feel how I expect bosses to feel (though, Diablo-esque ARPGs aren't my main genre, so I don't know what the expectations are). Making bosses enrage is an interesting idea, but assuming that had some benefit to the player, wouldn't that encourage bursting down bosses even more? Instead I think more boss enemies need mechanics that slow down the fight in fun ways like Geonor or the Siren fight in Act 4. " So much this. I really hate 0.3.1 changes for this very reason (and the removal of league mechanic icons). Makes certain maps - like Cenotes - a no-go zone in HC. Or a no-go zone in general, like Ragosa.
