Accuracy and Strength Characters
I am very new to the beta, so please excuse the foolish question.
When I make a character with high strength (e.g., a Mauler or a Templar who uses a staff) it feels like maintaining a reasonable chance to hit is a significant challenge. [Red gem] weapon skills appear to have a miss-rate based on my character's weapon skill. So without significant investment in Dexterity, I find I have trouble keeping a high chance to hit with these weapon skills. What is the best way to manage "chance to hit" without significant investment in Dexterity? |

" The most obvious is of course to take the 'never miss' keystone. The only other option is to stack dex and attack rating on equipment. Swords have better hit rate than other weapons, so those builds don't suffer much from it. Axe builds usually have enough dex and accurancy from those nodes to keep it up anyway. So if you use maces, the keystone is a good investment. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" You'll find the Resolute Technique keystone passive in the Marauder portions of the tree. You never miss but you also never crit. The 0.9.6 tree introduces quite a few +30 attribute nodes (including several in the center of the tree). Grabbing some of these can give you a big boost without too big of an investment. The other option is to get +dex or +accuracy on your equipment. The amulet that increases all your attributes can be a great way to boost your stats without devoting too many mod slots. You get health, dex gets accuracy, and int gets mana. Advantages, disadvantages, etc.

Unless you've got massive crit or rely on the elemental crit effects for survival (fire flees, ice freezes), Resolute Technique is a no-brainer.
The difference between hitting even 94% of the time (with investment elsewhere and equipment slots) and 100% of the time is a huge (final) damage buff. | |
Thanks a lot for the information.
Sounds like Resolute Technique is a winner for a lot of melee characters. Also, it sounds like trying to make a Templar who uses a melee weapon and yet want to crit is quite difficult and requires finding good gear with Dexterity or Attack Rating. |
