Are you dying at all? Because dying makes you lose Experience (10% of the progress towards the next level).

This is a feature, not a bug.

Once you complete the first 5 acts, you receive a small resistance penalty.

Upon killing Kitava in act 10, you receive a 2nd and final penalty, being additional resistance penalty as well as losing 10% of you're experience accrued towards your next level up.

You will never de-level or go below 0%, but if you do not fix your defenses or continue playing content you cannot survive in, you will not see level 86.
