Do Spells count as Hit?

Hi there, kind of a noob question because i am one. I looked up the wiki but am still not sure.

I'm a frost sorc and wanted to skill the talent that gives me 50% more dmg with HITS against frozen enemys.. so, do spells like Cold Snap also count as hits? The wiki says yes, but in my tests i dont have the feeling that Cold Snap now deals 50% more dmg so i want to get sure with ur help :)

Yes spells can count as hits in PoE.

Damage dealt by hits always has one of 3 damage sources (attack, spell or secondary, but note that damage over time never hits.)
