Ranger: DPS doesnt scaling

Hello. Me and my friend made the same characters. We have the same talent tree, but our damage is different. The difference is as much as 10K. I gave him all my equipment and jewels and his DPS only went up by 3K. How is this possible, what are we doing wrong?:o May I also mention that the same bow I am equipping gives me 4K DPS and my friend only 600
