0.2.1 and my Overall Thoughts
I think the general improvements here are a GOOD thing.
- However; They need to be specific with the direction this game is going. Either drop "the vision" or embrace it in its totality. As of right now the end game, and map mechanics (breach, ritual, etc...) are all totally OPPOSITE in what a "vision" play style is. Horde style gameplay is not conducive to methodical and meaningful combat. In its current iteration I'm starting to think this might just be an updated PoE1, which is NOT a bad thing. It only becomes a bad thing when the choices feel "lukewarm" They need to improve on the UI, and reduce the overall menu clutter. Multiple benches for example/recombinator, etc... Create a "crafting bench", but really it's just an all in 1 menu. Expand upon the "laurels" of what PoE1 did successfully, and then go further. Maybe introduce better ways to play co-op with random players? I feel like that's been something lacking in most ARPG's since D2 and it would be fun to have that as a mainstream option again. Is the atlas map here to stay? I don't think it's awful, but it leads to A LOT of clutter once you start exploring it, and being that it's shared across characters I could see the standard map becoming impossible to navigate. I think the overall "UI/system" of it could be made cleaner. I could see a situation where rather than displaying all maps/biomes spread out on a map, you could access a particular biome and choose what map to run in it. An example when "multiple UI's" could be a good thing as this "reduces" clutter. Overall; the game is good for where it's at, but I'm hoping they start looking to experiment with "new" systems that really make this game something else. I think actually having to navigate the map in general is bad, instead, we should be able to choose which maps we actually like (i.e. LET US SLAM instead of dragging map around to find maps we want to play).
I also like target farming (but that's the d2 vet in me) - this would force us to switch whatever our "normal ez map" rotations would be if this were to change. Not sure how the general poe community feels about it though. |

Well my logic is that everyone likes what they like and don't want to play certain things within the game.
ex) Since I hate "path maps" with multiple dead ends, I avoid them. I'd rather do 4-5 "open area maps" to get around those. |
