Why we need more magic schools in PoE 2
Hello,
I wanted to share an opinion as to why I think we need more Magic Schools in PoE 2 and less Martial Weapons. The reason is simple, in it's current state we don't have enough skill slots to justify playing builds centered around weapon swaping. At most we can slot in 5 martial skills, two skills which consume spirit and two utility skills from either one of the magic schools or an alternate weapon setup. In the current meta, the Second Weapon is only used to kill your own scepter based minions in order to activate a self buff. How could a fourth magic school help us out? It would justify creating more spells that can synergize with weapon skills from one weapon set and reduce the dependency on weapon swaping. What kind of schools of magic can be implemented? If we are to take the current roster of classes as set in stone and unchangeable, then the main school of magic which can be implemented is called Theurgy and is meant to replace Flails in the game, since they are currently the least desirable weapon type for the PoE2 format (one handed weapon which can't be dual wielded). The elemental themes for Theurgy are Fire & Lighting, if we are to base Theurgy on the religion of Oriath. This way we also match the spells with the aesthetics of the Templar from PoE 1. Although Elemental features a lot of Fire and Lighting spells, we are sorely lacking on Fire themed spells and also posses the ability to move some Elemental Spells over to Theurgy to make room for more Ice spells in Elemental (Arc, Fire Storm & Temporal Chains feel like the best choices). Comet could also work, if we rename it to Meteor and change it's damage type to Fire. We could also get, Artificing as a magical school with no ties to a character because we have wands, staves, scepter and foci (plural for focus) and no weapon skills which can be paired exclusively with these items in order to create new spells that can supplement the playstyle of both Elemental and Occult. ขุดครั้งสุดท้าย เมื่อ 1 มิ.ย. 2025 04:45:08

Yeah Im getting kinda bored of fire/ice/lightning. In POE1 we also had Chaos and Holy magic too. Which made for a realy cool holy magic templar in POE1.

Personally, I think it's a missed opportunity that we have a Sorceress from Maraketh.
If they used the assets from the Sorceress to create a War Priestess of Maraketh, we could probably have Water Themed spells because the Maraketh pantheon is based around the Sun and Moon. Additionally, we would also get Chaos and Holy Magic from the Shadow and the Templar, which would round up the magic system nicely. |
