I don't get it, what are Rog, Dannig et. al. for?

I do the Expeditions; specific loot drops.
I don't get what it's for? I used my coins to "level up" Rog or whoever it was, but I'm now sitting on a load of various different currencies that I don't really understand. When I go speak to each in my hideout, they offer me substandard level 65 loot than I would never use nor craft on. Why are they in game? What am I missing? Theyre left overs from POE1. You can place explosives for them at dig sites in maps, and trade useless currency items for useless garbage. Other than that they serve no purpose.
Dannig used to give you rare and difficult challenge maps in POE1 but in POE2 theyre all just vendors for useless crap. |

You can use the currency in the recombinator, it will eat all your items with nice affixes. Ok, fine - sometimes it works, then you can brick the results with whatever crafting currency you have to hand.

I forget which one, but you can buy/craft gear with them for somewhat of a level of determinism.

" exactly, they are for more deterministic buys... all of them work the same(the ones that sell items)... but as like everything else in the game they are also RNG.... the idea is to go to all the mechanics and sometimes one will provide good results from time to time... |

you can kinda sorta craft things with them as long as you kinda sorta know what you're looking for, as in whether the thing you want is a prefix or a suffix. It can give you a couple of opportunities to gamble on prefixes or suffixes and keep the rolls you like or are workable.

Expedition is one of the most important game mechanics to farm and modify top gear and currency. The expedition boss drops one of the most imporant jewels and flask. Easy to get high tier items on high level logbooks, easy to get high tier affix items from the expedition npcs, easy to recombine high tier gear obtained from these. If you know what you are doing, that is...
