My thoughts on the game. Questions, suggestions and observations.

This is going to be long, so grab a cup of coffee and sit back to relax.

I've been playing Path of Exile 1 (POE1) on and off for about 10 years. I usually engage with a lot of content each season, finish what I can until I get bored around level 90 or so, and then move on to something else. However, I always come back after a break to try out a new season, and the cycle repeats.

I did the same with Path of Exile 2 (POE2). I purchased the early access (version 0.1), played for a few weeks, and then stepped away.

Recently, with the new POE1 season, I returned to POE1 and played for a few days, but I quickly lost interest. I switched back to POE2 a few days ago, and here are some of my thoughts on it.

**Graphics:**
The graphics in POE2 are outstanding. I play on a 42" TV with all graphics settings maxed and HDR enabled. There’s nothing more satisfying than watching the Herald of Thunder skill unleash a barrage of lightning bolts that fill the entire screen. It's top-notch and spectacular in my book.

**Character Movements and Animations:**
The character movements and animations, including those of NPCs, are well-designed. I recently ran through the Molten Vault, where an NPC is banging on the wall of the lava chamber to open it. I stopped for a moment just to watch him—it was a neat detail.

The zone design has improved since the patches that reduced the zone sizes. They are now well-crafted, not too long or too short, and it's fun to run through them.

**Skill tree:**
Massive, amazing and in a league by itself.

**Areas for Improvement:**

While the graphics of the spells are impressive, some aspects of the skills themselves have quirks that could use attention. For instance, I’m currently playing a Monk with the Storm Wave ability. While the skill looks and feels great, it has trouble passing over certain terrains, such as holes in the ground or even small bumps. This seems odd to me, especially when it should cross over holes.

**Currency Orbs:**
I prefer to call them crafting orbs, as that seems to be their intended purpose. Unfortunately, they don’t drop often enough to be useful for crafting, making me hesitant to use them. Alchemy, Chaos, Regal, and Chance orbs should drop much more frequently. Since I typically play solo, I don’t benefit from running with players who have rarity-boosting auras.

For players to fully explore the crafting aspects of the game, the drop rates for these orbs need to increase significantly. I would love to see more crafting orbs and white items drop more often instead of the magic (blue) and rare (yellow) items. During my last playthrough, I think I sold or disenchanted about 90% of the blue and yellow items that dropped.

If crafting orbs were to drop more frequently, players would have the freedom to craft their own items, adding more depth and enjoyment to the game. I don’t understand the reasoning behind keeping these drops so rare. If the drop rates were to change, I would suggest that at least Alchemy, Regal, and Chance orbs should increase, possibly even tripling their current drop rates.

**Trading Items:**
I understand why GGG wants to avoid an auction house with instant buyouts, but they need to modernize their approach. Personal interaction for buying and selling items feels outdated. Today, gamers prefer seamless and easy transactions without unnecessary hassle. In my World of Warcraft days, I spent countless hours buying and selling items on the auction house, and I found that fun.

However, this personal interaction combined with GGG's web-based auction system and the need for direct messaging to sellers or buyers creates frustration. Prices can be manipulated, and many people do not respond when trying to buy something, leading to an overall frustrating experience.

**Item Identification:**
Scrolls of wisdom, why are these still even in the game. We already have the ability to go back to town, click on the hooded one and have every item identified. Why even bother doing this? Just have them already id'd when they drop as it would remove one unnecessary immersion breaking step.

After all of this I can say that I am thoroughly enjoying the game and its something that I will be playing for years to come. I understand the game is only a few months old but my post was meant to be suggestions for future updates/content.
