The recombinator always generates Yellow items, even when they could be blue

For some reason, even if the generated item has one prefix and one suffix, it will be a yellow item. This makes little sense and the only effect in gameplay it has is that it stops you from using a greater essence or a regal orb to add a mod to the item. But given us the choice to use a greater essence would be nice.

I just went through a whole quad tab of gloves and I couldn't really come close to finding an upgrade.

I really think that if you were allowed to use Great Essences to upgrade some recombined items, it would really halpe make the game more deterministic without really taking much from it.

Recomb is just bad. Most of my stuff is between 10-20% chance and almost never hits. I end up spending too much time collecting bases only for them to all go poof.

And as you pointed out, when it is successful it is a yellow item. In it's current state, recomb is really useless unless you go for tiers with a 50% chance or something. It needs to be reworked.
