XP Loss Upon Death POE 2 Endgame

The 75% XP loss is so annoying, I think a good idea for endgame should be that you lose some of the XP gained from the map but not previously earned XP. I've been stuck at level 84 for months now and it's getting to the point where I have seriously considered ending the playing of the game.
