the game was made way too easy
i came back after taking a break for several months and roll a new sorc and pretty quickly I realized the game was insultingly easy compared to how it used to be. now I read patch notes and see mob health was reduced by up to 25%? It totally baffles me why this was done. Other than a couple of the bosses the game wasn't even difficult. At launch the basic trash clearing was in a perfect state, at least before endgame. Now POE2 is literally just Diablo 4. I just run up and press two buttons and things die. I don't have to think. At all. I don't have to synergize anything. I just throw down frost bomb and the sun ball thing and everything just dies. Every boss is beaten on the first try (after several months off) with little need for my flasks at all. I don't know if this is just a way to temporarily placate people while they fix something else but if this is going to be the experience of the game then why the hell am I even playing it? this shit was literally goated when it came out. it just needed content and some balancing. endgame was a mess but the general skeleton of the combat was 10/10. Now it's like 3/10. It just looks pretty. Again, it's no different than Diablo 4 (which was also MUCH better at launch than it is now). I refuse to believe that ARPGs need to have the worst combat loop in the entire gaming medium. I witnessed it with my own eyes when I played POE2 at launch. What the fuck?

Early access, ARPGs are difficult do balance, etc etc. May I suggest SSF, or even better, HCSSF?

If we look at games across the spectrum that have been successful then tactical and well thought out gameplay is king.
If GGG feel inclined to eventually make POE2 for the small % of POE1 try hards or the ARPG exclusive players who for some reason need to quickly level 5+ characters in a season then cry about needing more cheesy space invaders content then GGG will continue to be niche market. I wouldn't be surprised if the devs got scared of trying to meet the gameplay potential that could ascend them to a huge player market and instead just default into making POE2 the sit back and relax console success that POE1 was. |

You're not imagining it, the game did used to feel tighter, more dangerous, and honestly more rewarding. When I played recently during that short window where the difficulty was ramped up, it completely changed how I approached the campaign. Every fight mattered. I had to think about positioning, skill timing, resistances, all the small things. And because of that, when I did win, it felt like it meant something.
Now, it’s like the campaign doesn’t even want you to try. You just press a couple buttons and things melt. You barely notice your gear. The tension is gone. I get that not everyone wants the game to be punishing, but there’s a big difference between “hard” and “engaging,” and they threw both out by chasing accessibility too far. For me, that brief harder version of the game was peak Path of Exile 2. It brought back that feeling of surviving against the odds, of really playing the game instead of just skipping through it. Losing that kind of tension kills the heart of an ARPG. The loop becomes hollow. It’s not just about difficulty, it’s about meaning. |

Eh they only did that to the Campaign, end game is mostly untouched, you still get 1 shoted if you don't pay attention.

A pendulum tends to swing back and forth a few times until finds a good spot to rest in the middle.

" i just wish GGG would dial one knob at a time, but often they crank few of them at once to 'solve the issue' |

" Only going to get easier from here on. The game never gets harder, only easier. They will keep power creeping and "balancing" things (aka buffing skills to be stronger than current meta skills) until the game is POE1 again. I actually quit POE2 because the game is too easy, "soulslike" lol, good joke. |

" Yea same. I really didn't come for the brain rot playstyle of POE1 and we think its going to go in that direction and its likely true. I think the only hope is that they really figure out how to make this a much better version of POE1 and its not about the amount of content, its about further polishing gameplay and skills (too many irrelevant skills) and most importantly giving players a much more traditional purpose of progression instead of mindlessly tackling an infinite map of torturous drop sorting. |

" [Removed by Support] The whole reason PoE2 is develop is to NOT become PoE1 and to not repeat the mistakes of PoE1.. If there is ANY tiny chance they do that, this means 95% of the skill gems and support gems will be annihilated..! There are so many conditional skills and support gems that it's impossible to use in a fast pace gameplay. In matter of fact the game will be getting slower and get more meaningful playstyle. The whole roots and core of the game screams slower pace style gameplay. The reason we have endgame type PoE1 is because they didn't got time to develop Endgame and copypaste it from PoE1 so that they have something. But with overtime they will slow it down. Just like we saw with 0.2 patch. So instead to smoke copium of 0.3 to be faster, be prepared for even more slowdown in the next patch as should be.. This game aint gonna turn PoE1 as you want so much.. The core principles of the game wont allow it haha แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย EthanH_GGG#0000 เมื่อ 8 ส.ค. 2025 18:02:19
