Checkpoint Respawn on top of Abyss Hole makes me unable to move

Was doing maps and died. Subsequently respawned at the nearest checkpoint but the respawn point was on top of an active abyss pit making me unable to move at all. I could still fight in this state but it was a sure way to lose all your portals.

Same thing happened to me today. Could even move using teleport skills. Relogging did not fix. Dying multiple times did not fix. Checkpoint respawn was on top of an abyssal hole opening. Dodge roll just rolls in place. Could attack, use potions, but couldn't reach the ranged mobs to clear and enable myself to drop a portal.
