Unrunnable waystones are an issue during early mapping: suggestions to fix it

Disclaimer

This is primarily a problem for players who play SSF / HC / HCSSF.
As you map and gear up (or if you play trade and skip the whole mapping and gearing progress altogether), this becomes less of an issue.
The target group is "just tiered up to tier 15s and just started gearing".
I wrote this post when I was at that stage.


I have currently 60 waystones in my stash tab.
As I'm playing HC, I run blue waystones for safety.
Even though I
- am running blue waystones
- have all waystone quantity nodes in the Atlas tree
- have no waystone rarity node in the Atlas tree

I consistently drop at most 1 waystone from the last rare (which isn't even guaranteed).

If this waystone was white or blue, that'd be fine.
However, more often than not, this is a rare waystone with 4 to 6 modifiers.

Unlike 0.2, where prefixes = good and suffixes = bad, now all modifers are downsides, and several modifiers are simply unrunnable for me.

Namely:

Temporal Chains
Elemental Weakness (as long as I don't have a massive +30% overcap on all ele res)
Chilled Ground
+critical hit chance + extra damage
-maximum player resistances (-10% max res = you take 40% more damage)
-effect of Curses (I'm playing a Curse build)
+chaos damage (ES build takes 60% more damage from +30% extra chaos damage)
more than 1 source of extra damage


These seem to be weighted much higher than more reasonable modifiers, like Monsters are Armoured or Monsters take reduced damage from crits.
55 of the 60 waystones in my stash tab have at least 1 or 2 of these, making them unrunnable.

This is a huge problem.

Here are some ideas to fix this:

- instead of only a higher chance, guarantee rares and bosses dropping waystones
- have waystones always drop white
- have Doryani sell 10 of current tier per level, instead of current tier -1
- let us reforge tier 15 waystones into a new one
- decrease the modifier weightings of these modifiers

I specifically want to shy away from more extreme suggestions like "remove X modifier", and instead provide ideas that are small adjustments that all players in all leagues benefit from (and changes that IMO should have been part of the game in the first place).

This issue is a huge impediment on my enjoyment of the endgame, and I hope GGG addresses this.

This, and the fact that the only Omens I ever see in Ritual Altars, despite a week of 14h grinding Rituals per day, being Omens of Gambling, Bartering and Refreshment.
Omen of Homogenising Exaltation practically does not exist.

Some calculations

+30% extra chaos damage:
100 fire damage = 25 with 75% res
extra 30 chaos damage = 60 vs ES = 15 with 75% res
That's a 60% increase in damage taken

-10% max resistances:
100 fire damage = 25 with 75% res
100 fire damage = 35 with 75% res
That's a 40% increase in damage taken



HCSSF is the only way.

Seem more like a personal choice to not run yellow maps. Other HC players run them. It's ok to choose that way, i'm not judging, but you cant ask them to change the game just for that.

I dont see how making all maps drop white would be an improvement to anyone else. I play SSF and i rather keep my currencies for items upgrades than for waystones.

The new waystones are actualy better, before if you would roll only suffixes your maps were not even worth running cause there was no positiv effect to them at all. So either you had to waste exalted on them, or as i had, trying to corrupt them were turning them into full suffixes and only thing to do with it was to sell it to the merchant.

Now every mod add a positiv effect to them and i like that.
Yes, you cant cheese the game anymore with omens and only get bonus on your maps but i think it's fair and better/more healthy that way overall.

Nothing to see here. Put your "unrunnable" waystones on the market, they'll be bought by people who can run them. I love buying "bricked" waystones for cheap.

Guy, no amount of you calling it "Trade League" is going to change the fact that it is how the game is designed to be played. The game is now and will always be balanced with player trade in mind and your decisions to opt out of that is going to make the game more difficult and sometimes frustrating for you. You are complaining about imbalances that you voluntarily imposed upon yourself.

If you are unhappy with the challenge of SSF then you and everyone reading this knows how you can solve that problem.

Let me address the topic, then: no Waystones are "unrunnable." There are Waystones you personally choose not to run. You could solve this by engaging in player trade, but you personally choose not to do that.

Your problems can be solved just by making different choices.
Welp, if you're ssf, then just use reforge with two "unrunnable" maps and one white until you realize that everything is runnable if your build is right and you're just wasting your time in the grand scheme of things.

For all the reasonable players: If you find that the mods your rolling on your map are bad for your build, sell them. Saves others the currency rolling them themselves.

I dont have 90% of my waystone unrunnable... Far of it even.

HC is mean to be the hardest challenge in the game.
SSF is also mean to be harder.

Idk, cant ask them to change the game because we choose thoose modes and find it too hard after all lol Seem weird to me.
