I think you forget that maps need to host various mechanics when you come up with a "cool" design.

Derelict Mansion, for example, probably looked cool on paper and sketches, but running ritual or breach, or even Abyss (which is focal point of the whole league) there is so shit that from now on I'm gonna skip that map altogether. And there's pretty long list of maps that aren't doing too well hosting those mechanics.

Not saying that maze-like maps and narrow corridors have no place in the game, but maybe create some rules for map generation so that particular encounters could get extra space to fit. You did it for Syndicate Fortification encounter back in PoE1. So maybe breaches, and definitely rituals, could use something similar.
