King of the mists - Game not paused?

I died during the king of the mists boss fight , when he sends you into the maze, i was unlucky and had to run afk to shut off my oven, so i paused the game figuring it should pause and id be fine. The debuff you get apparently still stacks even through it and eventually killed me. Dont know if this is intended or not as i was under the assumption pausing should prevent anything from happening?

- Nvm, theres literally a debuff you get along with it that says pausing is disabled. I just never noticed it.
