Spear crafting is bugged

The homogenising exaltation does not work correctly on spears.

I take a Melee skills and a Leeches damage as life - both T1 to the recombinator and roll a single rare with those two stats.

I take the omen of homogenising exaltation with the omens to roll two prefixes and get elemental damage and life on hit.
I use the homogenising exaltation alone without the other omens and get elemental damage or life on hit.

In my opinion the Physical tag is broken on spears, I can predict it with 100% certainty - it happens every time.

Melee skills has the Attack tag
Life leech has the Attack and Physical and Life Tag

I understand why the life on hit appears (when it shouldn't because I already have a Life tag)- it has the same tags as life leeched, but the Physical tag is completely ignored instead preferring to add the elemental tag.

So either the Physical tag is missing from Physical attack damage or Elemental has the physical tag on it or the chance to succeed with an Attack - Physical roll is so low it becomes invisible. It can only be one of these three things.

There's two things I have discovered that are wrong with spear crafting.
Leeches life will roll Life on hit.
An Attack - Physical tag will roll Elemental next.

Both of these, when you think about it are completely incompatible. Rolling Leeches Phys and then elemental damage wouldn't work, they are incompatible.
Rolling two Attack - Life modifiers shouldn't even be possible.

It is effectively impossible to take the Melee skills, recombine with Leeches life, then roll Attack - Physical prefixes or Accuracy Prefixes to then roll Attack - critical for the final suffix.

I clipped a short as proof.

I had 4 Attack and 3 Physical tags and the result is Elemental tag.

This happens every time I try to craft spears using homogenising exaltation.

This is a clip using the omen of whittling to reroll cold damage on a spear to cold damage.

This is 3 different spears with leeches life, % extra damage as Physical and melee skills.

They each have 3 Attack and 2 Physical tags only.

The % extra damage as Phys is a guaranteed roll using a greater essence and not chance.

I use homogenising exalt, sinistral exalt and greater exalt on each.

Of the 6 prefixes rolled, 5 were elemental and 1 was physical - prioritising Elemental over Physical despite using the homogenising omen.

This is not chance, this is flawed design.

In the previous post you see a clip of me trying to reroll the cold damage with an omen of whittling, and of all the prefixes it could have chosen, it chose cold damage...again.

This clearly proves, after testing, spear crafting is broken and the omens for setting parameters work but not when the system is using the tags to steer the craft to physical damage.

This is also just a small snippet of what I have done, I have been trying to craft a flat physical spear for a while - I am only now forced to act with this report because of the amount of currency and time I have wasted.

Not a bug, you just interpreted the omen wrong. will add a modifier of the same type as an existing modifier on the item means that it will add a mod that shares any tag with the mods already on the item. You interpreted as it will add a modifier of including ALL the same type..

Melee skills have an attack tag.
Life leech has life + physical + attack tag.

This means while the omen is active, it will roll anything that will include any one of life OR physical OR attack tag.

Elemental damage with attacks has damage + element + attack tag. The important part is that it has an attack tag, which means it is included as a valid mod to be rolled while the omen is active.

So how would I steer the craft to add the stats that I want? I thought the homogenising was the mod to set the parameter for this.

There is a wand craft video, which uses a similar method and adds all the stats he wants, essentially building a god tier wand for 5 div.

Also - what you're suggesting is that the homogenising exalt is useless for spears as all the spear prefixes have Attack modifier. This would suggest merely exalt slamming for prefixes rather than intuitively seeking a desired prefix instead.

I like your answer - it does make some sense, but it doesn't seem to line up with other crafting videos I have seen and doesn't line up with the point of the omen for homogenising.

I'm fully prepared to take an L and admit I do indeed have it wrong, I could just be confused and I was hoping some devs would jump in, test it out and check because there seems to be an uncanny amount of elemental rolls compared to phys, which seems almost invisible.
