Feedback on POE2: The Third Edict/Rise of the Abyssal

What I Liked
  • I actually had a lot of fun this patch
  • Going through the act was more enjoyable since I only had to do it once and the act 4 "mini" acts were enjoyable.
  • Graphically the game still looks fantastic
  • Load times seemed a great deal better
  • Trade Instant Buyout feature is the best thing ever, this had a direct impact on how much I enjoyed playing. This feature ABSOLUTELY needs to come to POE1 sooner than later.
  • I like that I can use the same supports now on multiple skills though it seems like some are more OP than others.
  • Abyss is done SO MUCH BETTER in POE2. I'd like to see an Abyss 2.0 in POE1 that implements that system. Not necessarily the crafting, you have that with Jun, just the was the Abyss itself works where I don't have to chase it down and I get multiple stashes. That was a lot of fun.

What I Think Needs More Work
  • While the act was more fun, it still seems too long IMO. I wanted to create a new character but I couldn't see myself going back through the act again. I don't have that kind time.
  • The engine still seems like it needs some work. I'm on a high end gaming desktop and at time the pc really struggles and runs at some pretty high temps that I don't see in any other game, including POE1. Turning down graphics settings helps but not a great deal
  • Quests feel like they need more direction still. The act areas are too large and non-linear to not have some more help on the quest. I don't have any specific suggestions other than maybe some mini map icons or something like that.
  • Atlas maps... I just get bored extremely fast. POE1 has a winning formula with the maps system. That didn't happen overnight but the new system is such a deviation from that, that it is hard to think of a better system. The current system just doesn't feel good
  • The Atlas still has a bunch of inaccessible areas
  • Towers on the atlas... These just feel bad and make the atlas that much worse. I'm not sure I can pinpoint what that is or how to improve it. I'd rather be able to add tablets to my individual maps rather than just random maps in a radius. Basically the scarab system I guess with a little less agency since you have to role the tablets.

Suggestions
  • For Trade Instant Buyout feature, it'd be nice if you could prevent users from using their stills and maybe dismiss their minions while they are in your HO if they used the Instant Buyout feature. It generates a lot of lag but also some builds are able to leave remnants of themselves (pot holes?) that last a while and actually obscure my view
  • I'd like to see a feature for either the website or in game trade window where you can copy/paste the item detail on your character into the search and make adjustments to search for an upgrade or see its potential value. This seems like a no brainer for both games since you have the data easily available already.
  • The using the same supports across multiple skills is great, I kind of liked the idea of restrictions. I wouldn't want to restrict it totally like it was before but maybe some sort of diminishing returns. Example: Say the support gives 50% increased Damage. Maybe it loses 5% each time it is socketed? Or maybe based on skill order in the skills menu the first skill gets it's full power but the next one in the list it is socketed into gets a 10% reduction in power. Something like that. I don't know, maybe it is fine the way it is too.

Ultimately I never got to true end game encounters. I found one Citadel and never even ran it just because I got bored on the whole and ultimately would rather spend my time in POE1.

I do look forward to the next patch whereas I wasn't really looking forward to this one at all based on my last experience but the Instant Buyout was enough to make me want to give it another go.
