Echoing Thunder/Frost/Flames question

Scenerio: I fight a boss, with a first hit I apply all three Shock/Ignite/Chill, I get 4s 90% more Elemental damage.
The Question: If after (or during) those 4s boss still has Shock/Ignite/Chill on them, would any of my attacks that can apply those ailments still trigger and refresh that damage buff?

Or do I need to consume somehow the effect to be able to freshly reapply it, so I can benefit from the damage buff?
