This is torture.

Today I checked my Steam account and realized I've played over 1,680 hours, literally 70 days of non-stop play.

My PoE2 game had no crashes, only a few freezing screens, but now, every 10 or 15 minutes of gameplay, the game crashes or freezes. It's such a bizarre situation, a crash I've never seen in my entire life.

The game freezes, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then I can move my character, but the screen remains black. I can see the map and items on the ground, but the screen remains black.

It's a constant crash.

I have had similar issues last patch but they did fix some things.


Check game integrity.

Path of Exile 2 game folder run "PackCheck". I am pretty sure this fixed it for me. Had no crashes since.

Try turning off any undervolt you may have on you GFX card.

Set to DX12

Ensure drivers are up to date.

Is this freezing leading to a desktop crash or forcing you to close the game and restart And is it Predictable, because people say every 15 mins, but in reality its crashing sporadically and maybe due to a certain action being performed.

(a bugged spell can cause a crash or even stepping on a weird patch of ground or some other new bug, so you need to specific)

if so this sounds like a compiling error, I'd check integrity, if its stuttering, you got first check your hardware isn't struggling, overheating, dropping usage suddenly for no reason.

I used to get the "rendering" problem where you see the Grinding Gears, but that is gone, since I guess the servers are under less load. I don't remember seeing a patch about it.

Before this last patch, I was getting a lot of crashes.

After this last patch I'm getting some crashes and some of those weird moments you mentioned where it starts to crash then goes to the black screen with loading gears while the game functions behind it, and I have to exit to character selection.

I guess torture is a thing to call it.
I keep telling myself I'm a few crashes away from abandoning league and playing Last Epoch instead or something

If you're running dx12, switch to vulcan.
This sounds like the infamous dx12 renderer crash that's been around since last year and they are incapable of fixing.

I had 0 crash before 0.3, now I crash every 15-20min, switched to Vulkan I'm not crashing anymore but performance is worse.

I don't know anything about any particular crash being "infamous" but I can at least put a +1 into this thread that swapping to vulcan appears to have stopped or heavily reduced my crashes.

DX12 sucks, at least for me.

i have a way more stable game with Vulkan (AmdCpu / NvidiaGpu)
tried DX12 after the patch and got 3 crashes in the first 2 Hours, switched back to Vulkan which crashed 2 Times since league start :D

so rather then "set to DX12"

try which of the 3 is more stable and better for your system :D
