Damage bypass energy shield after darkness is empty.

Hi, I'm not sure if this a bug or not. I played acrolyte of chayula with darkness. After darkness is emptied, the damage I received occasionally bypassed energy shield. I check on the map mod, my gear, passive tree, I can't find any source of chaos damage and the hit was telegraph pretty much lightning.
