Chaos Damage Gems bug?

Doing tests with my Abyss With jewels I found out this:

Chaos Bolt base damage without gems: 69,293 (AVG DMG per use: 30,392.09)


Jewel 1:

Item Level: 80

12% increased Chaos Damage
20% increased maximum Energy Shield
8% increased Duration of Damaging Ailments on Enemies
Minions have 16% increased Critical Hit Chance

Chaos Bolt Damage: 70,020 (ADPU: 30,710.69) +1.04%


Jewel 2:

Item Level: 80

15% increased Spell Damage
12% increased Chaos Damage
Debuffs on you expire 10% faster
Meta Skills gain 4% increased Energy

Chaos Bolt Damage: 70,928 (AVG DMG per use: 31,109.08) +2.35%


Jewel 1:

Item Level: 53

15% increased Spell Damage (desecrated)
19% increased Critical Damage Bonus (desecrated)
10% increased Energy Shield Recharge Rate (desecrated)
15% increased Mana Regeneration Rate (desecrated)

Chaos Bolt Damage: 71,412 (AVG DMG per use: 31,321.06) +3.05%



Now my question is: why does the lowest level gem with only Spell Damage increases more on damage than those with the same Spell Damage and more Chaos Damage?

Then you telling me that 19% Critical Damage Bonus on a skill that have less than 10% critical chance give more DPS than 12% of the base "element" (in this case, Chaos)? That's just don't make sense...
Given that 12% increased chaos damage accounted for only 1% more damage - from your first example - yes.
