Serious thread about the "vision"

I want to preface this by saying I have been a huge GGG fan since open beta for poe1. I have bought hundreds of dollars of cosmetic items. I support the game. I play each league, I make lots of builds. I dont follow the streamers. I mostly try to fiddle around making some off meta thing.

I feel I am being left behind. I almost never even finish the campaign. I rarely even attempt to craft. I get maybe a couple divs a league. I am a millenial, I grew up on diablo 2. I chase the rush of FINDING a cool piece of gear that allows me to do something cool.

I suppose the best way to describe poe2 is its like playing diablo 2 if the endgoal is a spreadsheet. Crafting gear, finding white bases. This does not feel like an arpg to me. The skills, while impressive are so very restrictive that it saps the will out of me to fiddle around without using a spreadsheet to make sure it will function in the endgame before I hit lvl 5.

I have always disliked crafting. I feel that GG items should always be dropped, not made. I have no issue with crafting being able to make GOOD but not BIS items.

I feel swamped by data, so many modifers to master, so many stats to weigh. I just feel like the numbers have become the game, and not the fun. We chase modifiers now, not items. We chase rarity instead of bosses. We filter 1,000 items for every 1 we pick up. I hope it changes, but I doubt it will.

I will keep playing. But I doubt I will ever see a pinnacle boss. I guess this is the future.

"The Vision" is simple - money. GGG are arrogant. They thought they could milk for money not only PoE 1 players but people who prefer other genres. They thought they were good enough to make a game which transcends what an ARPG is. And they failed. Both old PoE 1 players and the new guys who want "hard meaningful combat" do not like the end product. Meanwhile, GGG are trying to milk us as hard as ever by leaning either towards PoE 1 or towards a game harder than PoE 1, thus PoE 2 at the moment has no identity or depth.

If this were remotely true...they would follow the Blizzard Formula. A proven formula that made them hundreds of millions of dollars on a "bad game" that tried to do exactly what you describe above.

Instead...PoE REMAINS F2P. You can live in this game for a decade or longer on less than $20. I am proof of that. If it were about the money, there is so so so much that GGG as a company could have done apart from optional mtx purchases to FORCE or otherwise encourage much more spending. Instead, they have pretty much done the bare minimum required of their f2p model.

Paying to be a part of the beta is irrelevant in this discussion, because the game WILL be free on release. Most games offer paid EA and provide a game with less than a tenth or even a hundredth of the content and "time" PoE 2 EA provides.

It is NOT about money, plain and simple. PoE remains a drop in the ocean in terms of monetary value within the gaming world. And that actually makes this even MORE depressing. Frankly, its about a lack of talent: they are simply UNABLE to make the game they want because they do not have the ideas or foresight to make it happen correctly.

They are like the scientist a hundred years ahead of his time: very lofty ideas and goals...without the tools to achieve any of them.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

To me OP's issue seems like a skill damage balance issue, and if so, I agree with it.

Each class has only a few skills which can be used to clear the campaign, and they require either high damage on weapon, or + levels in all possible equipment.

Even with decent gear, most skills cannot do enough damage to clear the campaign, they are only used to buff your main skills and deal a little bit more damage to bosses.

Solution is quite straightforward: buff all skills so that they make as much damage as the current "primary" skills.

Somehow it feels like GGG is worried that the game is too easy, and because of it, makes a big part of builds unplayable.

Naturally, in the endgame a lot more builds became feasible, but during the campaing they are not.
Ok so what was the point of this post?

For real, I think the most sensible way to play this league is to run a bunch of builds through the campaign. The endgame is thin. In 0.4, the endgame is supposed to be much better.

I don't think you're missing much.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.
