Heart Tethers (Trials Of Chaos)

playing co-op with two other friends (three people total), chose heart tethers as a modifier. all three of us got hooked by the tethers and completely froze and became soft locked, making us quit the game to get out if it. I was able to get out of it ( I'm not sure how) but my other two friends got completely soft-locked

This just happened to me and my friend in couch co-op and ruined our run in Trial of Chaos. It seemed to be when the tethers overlapped and one of us would run out that would freeze our character animation and just lock us permanently.
