WTF is going on with item filters

I havent played the game since the release 10 months ago, now I came back and foudn this nonsensical weird bullshit going on with item filters. It used to be a simple in game option to toggle common or magic loot off, now its a fucking nightmare of coding hacking and programming homework! Why did they ruin a simple easy to use thing and made it so stupidly overcomplicated!?
