Trial of the ancestors bugged - cannot complete

I think it has something with the order in which I cleared halls of the dead - I only got two tattoos before fighting the monkey man. I died to him and then I got the 3rd tattoo and went back to fight him - I got all the tattoos and had not yet used them. I killed him he dropped silver coin, but next step just says travel to the halls of the dead. There was no portal when he died so I went to waypoint at the beginning of the halls of dead. I waypointed out to talk to navlani about my two passive skill point reward but she won’t talk to me. Quest just says travel to halls of dead even though I have cleared halls of the dead.
