die once in Atlas, you lose all your content

Patch 0.4 Now,

Even if your Portal remains, dying just once in Atlas means you lose all extra content like Expeditions and Breaches. Was this behavior present since 0.3?

If the boss kills you, yes, it removes all the content on the map.
map boss has one upside and one downside.
Upside: it reveals the content on the map.
Downside: it removes the content on the map.

you can skip the boss until you clear the content.

Oh, I see! I guess I just didn't notice because I hadn't died to the map boss in 0.3.
Or maybe it was so long ago that I simply forgot.

a correction:

Upside: It reveals the content on the map if you’ve unlocked the waypoints on the map.
Downside: it removes the content on the map.
