Vaal Temple - Party member cant use the devices?

Me and my son have been playing and after we complete each room only, I can use the devices, so he helps me run the temple but cant get any rewards?

Is this intentional? If so why, what's the point for your party helping if they get nothing?

Nope it isnt working. Only I can interact with the devices.
