Eternal Mark as recommendation for Pounce?

Pounce applies a Mark that is activated when the target dies.
Eternal Mark does prevent activated Mark from being consumed.

What's the point? When this Mark gets activated the target is already dead.

Sure, Pounce allows a different Mark to be socketed that gets applied instead that may benefit from that but this would be advanced and the recommendation doesn't check for that. If I simply follow the recommendation I would have a support that does nothing but raises the mana consumption.

or... am I missing something?
