How you play this game as melee HP based in end-game content?

Just my 2 cents as a player with 13.000 hours in poe-1.

im near level 90 on Oracle Druid right now, having like 2.400 hp pool( all gear with decent max.life rolls except amulet and weapon), 4300 armour(all gear with armour decent roll), large % of armour applies to elemental damage taken from gear/tree. All resistances 75/76, chaos 72%, have some decent % of Life recouped in the tree + around 70-80hp regen/sec + base leech fromsupport gem on Shred.

Wolf form is super fun/strong with ability to freeze almost everything - without those insane frezees i just can't imagine how to play melee in poe-2.

So my question is - how you play melee HP based character in this game?
Since there's no % increased life in the passive tree for some reason, meanwhile there dozens of passive/Notables that grants enormous amount of energy shield increases - like 12/15% small nodes, and 30/40% Notables.

In poe-1 for example you can at least use Purity of Elements to get ailments immune in-trade off for some damage/defence auras.
You can get + to max.ele resistances in the tree(duelist/warrior zones) + on gear as implicits with Eater/Exarch ichors.
And what in poe-2?
Same large amount of elemental ailments + lots of degen grounds + volatile cores + chaos explosions and a lot of other nasty things.
No simple ways to get additional max.ele resistances, no fortify , no natural vitality aura, no - anything.

The Devs vision that player that comes from maps around level 65-67 and then progressing to t15-t16's around level ~90 should acquired hybrid HP/ES build or even fully CI 15k energy shield gear?

Or what?

Well u either go high armour (20k+++) and max block or u go blue life.

I have no idea how 2h without shield is supposed to survive in endgame, that's why I chose Monk over Druid for my Wolf build.

4k armor isn't going to do jack for you. I am currently at 15k armor with 2.2k health as Smith and I recently got one-tapped by one of those slams from the big skeleton boss. So aiming for 20k now lol and idk somehow 3k health.

I am aware, but not many other options lol. Health stacking, sure, but doubt having 2.6k health vs. 2.2k health saves me that often if I get caught in a boss slam.
It's kinda ridiculous to think that a sickly weak sorc with 12k ES or so has better survivability against the big bad boss with the hard hitting phys dmg slams than a 7 foot large ultrabuff warrior in full plate armor lmao. Especially cause you already trade off movespeed, aoe damage and dps in general to be that burly buff guy. But it is what it is.

For a very long time, I've been questioning their philosophy.

I don't want to justify anything regarding this dev team; I still consider the game to be in a "testing" phase.

But the biggest problem in this game is the passive skill tree, lacking life, max life, or vitality nodes, and the poor quality of these small details, in addition to the low efficiency of the armor, makes playing melee very difficult. This game has immense potential and a great community that truly cares about having fun, but this dev team is very bad, really bad.

My first piece of advice for you is to build ES+armor and try to continue investing in damage.

Second piece of advice: if you're level 90, stop leveling up, otherwise you'll get bored. I've played over 5000 hours, I'm level 98, have two level 96 characters, one level 94 character, one level 88 character, and a newly created level 59 wolf druid. My toons are witches with very high ES and a blood mage with a lot of health. It's totally different.

The dev team still hasn't understood, or doesn't want to understand, that for the game to be balanced, you need efficiency in defense, resistance, and vitality, things you don't find when you play melee.

Your post is very good and coherent, I've been a PoE 1 player since it was released, and I've been playing games for over 40 years.

Personally I feel armor is in a good spot. The only problem is the big slams and that it doesn't work against physical dots.
It would be maybe cool to have block chance kinda work like the opposite of armor. Armor is great against many small hits but terrible against big slams, so maybe block should work in a way where it is great against big slams but useless against small hits.
Would also make sense from an rpg point of view. For small hits the big armored guy dgaf and just shrugs it off with his shield lowered, but when the big hit comes he leans into it with his shield.
Then you would have a nice mix where you build armor for small hits, block for the big hits, and life for the middle where both of these defenses are lacking. Obviously block would have to change from block chance to something like block effectiveness.

It's not only useful against small hits, armour alone is less efficient against big hits but it still helps a bit.

When you stack high armour + armour apply to elemental damage + take phys damage as elemental, armour starts to be a very reliable source of defense even against bigger hits.

Also Wolf Oracle here and your only option is to kill them before they hit you.

Freeze is what your defense is.
