Is this the worst league they've ever made?

PoE1 had some really bad leagues before but Fate of the Vaal I think honestly might be the worst. There's genuinely nothing good about it. The concept is boring, the gameplay is boring, its poorly explained, frustrating, slow and UNREWARDING.

0.5 better be a great patch or this game is in big trouble. The community is tired of playing a boring unrewarding slog.

Fix the damn giant maze maps and shorten the campaign

Add a real end game

Stop making shit feel so unrewarding and slow in general.

Zizaran, is this you?
League could be better explained and executed, but it's not the worst they've ever made and by far... PoE1 had some very bad, lightweight leagues.

I think the concept is not bad and, once refined a little, it can fit well as a core game mechanic.

Considering we got Druid for this league which definitely makes up for the lacking league content, no it's not the worst.

As for the league mechanic itself, yes it's underwhelming. I do like the concept and idea of it and I'm sure they will fix it to be more rewarding and intuitive after a couple patches.

People gotta stop reacting so angrily to things so quickly. It's fine to report issues, bugs and things that could be better but to doom and gloom something without giving them a chance to fix it is a bit much in my opinion.

If they don't fix the league mechanic before next league, then yes I too will be upset. But I doubt they will let it be bad after seeing all the feedback it has got.
The lvl cap in there needs to be variable. And the one shot sub boss needs to be toned down or at least got be a way to practice.
I love the idea of the mechanic, but holy shit is it completely and utterly unrewarding for the amount of effort you have to go through. Every 6 maps you get an attempt, the rng of getting room pieces has to be aligned, you somehow have to have anticipated far in advance how to lay it out so rooms are properly set up, you have to hope that rng doesn't destroy your setup. It's so much, for so little.

For instance: you have to get the right room pieces, set it up the right way in a number of runs to have a room with prosthetic level 3. Then you need to beat the room boss. Then you need to beat the boss that revives from the table. And then you get a prosthetic that amounts to about half of an affix of an item. Aaaand you lose it on death immediately. Like, seriously? Fuck that.

You need to get a metal works to level three, beat a massive damage sponge of a boss, to get an item that allows to increase quantity by 1% past 20%, and of course there can't be an item without downsides, no, never that, hence it comes with a chance to corrupt and completely brick your item. Again, what?

But it's not only the Fate of the Vaal mechanic. The removal of homo slams, and the significantly decreased occurance of abyssal maps makes it so that readily accessible core crafting mechanics from last league are either gone completely or a lot harder to access. So back to the slot machine it is.
And then additionally it feels like they have nerfed currency droprates across the board, basically back to 0.2 levels. Okay, but why if you want us to play the slot machine do you also refuse to give us the currency to play the slots?

I don't understand why they insist on the philosophy that people should have absolutely jack shit as reward. People almost unanimously hated PoE1 Ruthless. No one wants to play it. No one wants to farm for tens of hours to get a couple shots at the slot machine, which almost inevitably will not reward you either. This game design philosophy simply sucks.

And I am not even talking about guaranteed waystone drops being removed again. Why? Everyone hated having to spec atlas points into "pick this or be unable to play at all" points.
Or that the tablet mechanic forces you again to play 0 revive maps. Why? Everyone hated that they are locked into a softer hardcore version when they deliberately did not pick that at the start.

sigh...this game has so much potential for greatness, but we get prolonged cbt sessions instead.
