Loot drops only good for Groups?

Why do I feel like the only optimal way to get loot in this game is to play in juiced party play?

Do solo players in this game just get the short end of the stick?

10 div a map groups vs a 1 exalted solo map.

This seems to invalidate all currency earning strategies but juiced groups.
