Unable to access Treasure Room in Jiquani's Machinarium

Clicking the altarin front of the dor says
"Activating the Stone Altar requires a small soul core"

- I have a small soul core in inventory.
- Dropping and pickup doesn't work with the altar
- leaving map and return + pickup doesn't work
