Staff lost when clicking on the “Well of Souls” button

I went to the Well of Souls to reveal a desecrated affix on my staff. I had taken the staff “in hand” and clicked with it on the button to place it into the well and reveal the affix. When I clicked, the staff disappeared and I couldn’t find it again—neither on the ground nor in the desecration window! Where is my staff??? 😭

OK found it on the ground... I wonder why holding alt it did not show. I had to remove the item filter to see it.
