Mana has no place with melee classes - GGG, please innovate something else.

Do you prefer cooldowns?
do you prefer rage/energy gain and spender system?

i guess mana is better option.

I'm not a game designer, but the Diablo Fury mechanic and WoW Warrior Rage mechanic work much better in terms of class fantasy than a hulking brute in heavy armor chugging blue potions so he can keep swinging his sword.

Both are preferable to trash-tier mana.

As long as we can unlimited spin to win, its good. Look at D4 Barb. Best melee ARPG class by a country mile.

Likely can't do that with PoE2 mana costs as melee.

Melee classes are not spellcasters, they don't need mana. They should have something else for resource management purposes, but mana is an outdated design for melee classes that should be left in the dust.


The man issue isn't Mana / rage / fury / energy or what ever you want to call it.
While yes.. You can claim the idea of story " WARRIOR IS DUMB " I also agree needing intel for a skill should not be needed for Melee.

Melee it's self is completely broken in PoE 1 and also in PoE 2.
Here is my point.

Cyclone vs Screen clearing.

When you start to think about PoE and melee. You do not think in your face toe too toe. You think HUGE AOE that can clear screens.
Same thing happens with PoE 2.

The idea of not clearing a screen with 1 ability... HOW DARE YOU!! ALL SKILLS MUST KILL 10000+ mobs in one hit.

Melee should be about taking damage to give damage. EG Thorns.. Which they added in PoE 2. But is a complete waste of time.. Dont believe me? Try it in HC and see how long you last. Geared or not.

Which is why I have since I started playing poe always.. Every league.. Gone RF Templar.
But at some point the AoE of RF stop's being melee and becomes a range ability that isn't melee.

So yes while you might claim mana is not needed.. Melee it's self is not Melee.

I usually spec my characters to blood magic ASAP, but you can't replace the stupid mana pot slot with another health pot.

That's one reason I want to get rid of Mana for melee altogether.

people who ask for this dont mind having "max/regen rage/stamina leech/onkill" mods on diluting the mod pool

i like the thematics but not enough to make me want to dilute the pool just for themes. melee already have es on armor slots, mana on kill and various other mana stuff which give a little benefit to melee. but if he had it his way all this would be dead mods and better gear for everyone would be harder to roll.

Melee is not bad because they use Mana, mana is simply an univeral ressource which was used in older RPGs by all classes. If your complain is that you can't remove the Mana Flask because you don't use it, that's a very easy fix and would probably get a yes from GGG while introducing new ressources would probably be a huge no.

It ain't 1997 anymore. Just like how nobody except FUDDs use 1911s in modern day, melee doesn't need to use mana. There are better resource systems.

I mean, it is just in the warrior's region for a reason.

Mana sustain is only a problem for the "green side of the tree". There are so many elemental skills for those classes, but you don't have option for mana leech from elemental dmg. Analysing that side of the tree, it seems that GGG expected us to sustain it just through mana flasks, but it would be an annoying gameplay.
