So why would players still want to play 2?

I'm confirming it. Omen's chance of participating in the ritual was small, and remains negligible. Party players (bots) as they farmed the currency, so they farm it. Mythical things don't fall into solos. Wisps are trash, and later, when I'm at home, I'll take a screenshot of a white mob with 6 (!) spirits modifiers. 0 drops that from him, that from the Boss under ancient spirits. Only the calandra ring has become cheaper, and even then, it drops in certain maps. T17 and t18 maps were also broken.

better graphics

even if game by itself isnt at the point of being an upgrade...

gameplay seems an upgrade (smoothly talking it)

It just need more time to have all things poe1 has (in some way... because it's not the same game...)
PoE2 plays smoother. Attacks feel like they have more weight to them. Fancy graphics.

First game is hilariously fast and awkward for me. Enemies feel a lot weaker too. Not my kinda thing.

yeah it's unbelievable, i won't comment on it because it's that bad was i think. On the other hand it's the only game GGG has, so i'm confident all this and everything else will be fixed and balance, the question is how long will it take? None of my 17+ friends that played POE2 are playing anymore since 0.2 and today there where 12k players at 8:00 pm Europe time. I hope they fix and balance things properly for next season. Such a great game deserves to increase in players , not decrease. A lot of good will from devs shows at the last YouTube video, let's give them sometime and they will deliver
After a few days of testing, the new drop mechanism has seriously affected the currency drops, especially for rare currencies like Holy Stones. It's really hard to stay motivated while grinding. The day before yesterday and yesterday, I ran 15 The Arbiter of Ash runs and didn’t get a single Sacred Flame. What? 15 runs? With that ticket cost, I could have bought 3 clean Sacred Flame! Come on, is this really the endgame drop you designed? Can carbon-based lifeforms even come up with this? Seriously, maybe try thinking about how to make the game more fun for players instead of constantly making sneaky changes.

I would honestly rate PoE1 as a game to play strictly with friends or if I'm tipsy or something because you can't really say it has any criteria of hands on and thoughtful gameplay mechanics inside of it besides passive building which is all done by meta build guides because you're severely punished by either end game worth or time if you don't follow them.

With PoE2 I have not read any guides and I've achieved a good handful of niche ways to tackle T15+ content and completely forgetting about PoE2's graphic superiority, the gameplay itself is far more involved in terms of accuracy and timeful defense and this is the standards that meaningful gameplay games of the past 10 years have set (LoL, Dark Souls, Black Desert and much more).

I can't see any worthy defense of keeping ARPG's "classic" when you can have the best of both worlds and in terms of a very casual+Thinking man loot finder there's better games to do it with far better multiplayer capability like a modded Terraria and even some private mmorpg's.
For Console only players I can probably get on board with PoE1 being a good game though because that is the very nature of a console strict player, just sit back and relax.

Poe1 is so-so game (by core combat, poe1 is just instantly trading clicks/damage), but gets carried by a huge bloat mass of skills, items, and content that players endlessly experiment with. Even as it remains horribly unbalanced, people just like to mix and match the blocks. GGG "soulslike" interventions and nerfs to player agency (and loot) harm the project, but above-mentioned core loop is robust enough to retain players over all those years.

Poe2 is unfinished skeleton of the game, core combat on the field has barely begun to improve (outmaneuvering enemies, meaningful attack and cast times during campaign, pleasant landscapes with 3D depth), but all negative traits of poe1 are already there, and ofc GGG somehow still believes injecting soulslike punishments into RNG game is what most players were enjoying all this time. There are no 500+ skills to save the day and support gem Lego kit is basically disabled. Poe2 support gems have a ton of restrictions as to which applies where. Add to it numerous bugs and technical problems.

Here's to personal preference, what of those 2 options you prefer:)

Its the future. There will come a time when they abandon "meaningful combat" and import all good things from poe1 to poe2.
I honestly don't get the sentiment, because to me PoE1 and PoE2 are so different that it doesn't make sense to me to think I have to choose one.

It's kind of like asking me why I would play Sekiro when Elden Ring is such a good game. Like, they're just entirely different flavors of game to me, they aren't really in competition. They do have a lot in common, but they are clearly meant to have different appeals.

Which is a much more sensible way to look at PoE1 vs PoE2 too, because why would GGG want to have two competing live service games. Obviously they should offer different experiences, the only way it would financially make sense for them to make PoE2 very similar to PoE1 is if it was intended to replace it. Which it isn't, they're intended to co-exist, and so they can't be in direct competition.

Some people will only like one of them, some people will like both, and some people will like neither. This is fine, and working as intended.

simple answer is, from my perspective, poe1 is too convoluted and i don't want to learn it.

i like that poe2 is getting back to basics and building mechanics back up gradually. I missed a lot of poe1 and always found it overwhelming coming back to tonnes of systems stacking on top of each other, i never really progressed past early red maps any time i played a poe1 league however, in poe2, i've progressed to do every pinnacle boss and done max tier on all of them except arbiter.

I'm having more fun learning poe2 and seeing how it progresses from the ground up and every patch that comes out I feel the game keeps getting better. I'm here for the long haul on poe2 and I want to see it succeed, and I have zero interest in poe1.

and don't get me wrong, ill probably play the next poe1 league, but i highly doubt i'll even make it out of yellow maps before i just get overwhelmed and move on.
