" I will try to explain but I doubt it will have any effect. The spirit node, that cost 3 passives gives you 4% spirit. And it got nerfed. GGG puts so so much value over this, that thinks that 3 passive points is okay, and that giving 5% and 6% is too much. The interesting part is that they are correct. But it is not obvious to everyone. And it is not so much not obvious, that there are people who pick companions in minion builds. If they put a "undead companion" the percentage of people who will fall to that will be even more. The mods on the companion are absolutely nothing towards the end-game, compared to what the end-game percentage spirit provides. So you should not put such things into your game, that will make people fall for it, and then screw their entire gameplay. If you open a site like POE ninja, you can see how this "companion" worked for some people who actually use them as companions And how much it fucked up some people, that remained stuck at 69 lvl, because they tried to use it together with other minions, and ended up doing nothing. My 'Pie in the Sky' list:
- Rebalancing of the relationship between player and monsters to be more attrition-based, rather than 'clear the screen before the rippy one-shot gets you'. - Options for how to engage with endgame, including some that demand building a defensive character, with vastly upscaled rewards to compensate for the slower rate monsters are being killed with that defensive archetype. - A rethinking of how sustain (regen, life leech, etc) functions as a way to keep the player alive, and instead have monsters do much less damage in exchange for the loss of instant life regeneration, which necessitates monsters to one-shot your entire life pool in order to kill you, forcing everyone to adapt to this dynamic. All but eliminate regen/sustain methods or 'meaningful combat' can never exist, and one-shots will always be necessary. - A complete reimagining of how exponential scaling works to incentivize concentrating investment into a limited number stats and limiting diversity of a players repertoire due to 'spreading power out' resulting in an overall weaker build. (Helped somewhat by weapon swapping, and swap now being instant, which was a genuine stroke of brilliance). - Scaling should be linear, not exponential. A continuation of the previous point. Exponential scaling not only limits how we're incentivized to build a character so 'specialize' in fewer stats, but it also creates a larger disparity in player power, which makes appropriately balancing monsters more difficult to do well. With such a wide range of player power to anticipate, the monsters will either have to be balanced so that they are far too easy for the higher end of the build power spectrum, or far too strong for the lower end of possible builds to even be viable for the content. - Greatly reduce mob density in order to help with visual clarity, and to promote a better combat system. Master making the fights interesting on the smaller scale, or the larger scale ones will never function in favor of meaningful combat. Increase monster life to compensate for the reduced density. Increase XP/loot drops from monsters to compensate for lower density. - Have existing and new skill gems be usable across more weapon types, so that players are not so 'pigeonholed' into an interconnected group of skills which only function well with each-other and their weapon type. - An improved endgame, Cool druid stuff.
