Why launch early access?

Early access is an amazing tool to help developers better shape the final version of their game by using players and their active feedback.

This helps with official releases so that when the general public gets access, the developers don't need to go back and release a plethora of patches and bug fixes and changes/additions that could/should have been there prior.

Sadly their are some developers that simply look at early access as being a way to fund active development... thats not the point of early access, yes it helps fund ongoing development, but thats not why a game goes into early access.

So if GGG stopped listening to player feedback like deleting the reddit feedback thread, barely see developer responses in this section on the forum, Why do you have a section on the forum for feedback if your going to ignore it all...

This is why the community is upset, no word, just lack thereof.

Just confused on why the game was made publicly available in the first place, the plethora of changes and rollbacks already in the first 3 major updates? towers being reworked 3 times... and more to come...

The 0.31 tower nerf took community by a surprise, no one had issue except the developers, made no mention of this to playerbase, took community by surprise, and its been a mess since then.

I payed money for early access because I thought my voice and playtime would help contribute to the active development and future of this game, there's gotta be a better way to address the community at this point, game should not have been made publicly available, still needs lots of time to cook :/

Yes. Everyone is doing it.
SSF

I want them to profit. We all should. Nothing is wrong with making money.

I don't even mind paying 15 a month for the game. Its really good, its super fun- for the most part... and annoying. lol

20 would even be fine. The only thing competing with this level of entertainment per dollar spent is... Netflix n shit?

If you goto a movie, its FAR more expensive. Reading a book is comparable, but still nowhere near as good.

We bitch way too much. We're getting a lot for next to nothing.

I get we want the game to be better and it feels like they are fucking up. I actually completely agree.

I don't think we should profit shame, who gives a fuck. Profit shaming when we've paid next to nothing is actually nuts, just fucking nuts.

They should be doing better than they are. They can still succeed, but it does feel pretty bad at the moment. The balance is wildly out of wack, they are celebrating crazy builds in their video features that go directly against 'interactive' combat.

I'm not sure if that is dead, it seems dead. If this is going to be poe1 again, I'm out.

The op is exactly right- but we need to be very careful not to bandwagon into attacking the wrong issues. Companies need to make money to find success.

Right now we are giving next to nothing, and expecting the world. That is out of balance. Now, if we were all paying 15 a month, then I would expect much more.

I prefer the old wow model. Even when I didn't have money I could afford that model, and it was wildly successful. I'm not sure why companies don't do it. Seems like a braindead decision to me.

However, once you do that you need to be on point.

They should be interacting with the forum, FAR FAR more. Ai should be garnering feedback and making lists. Designers should be reviewing importance.

There are FAR FAR too many qol things going MONTHS without any attention. Droprates are far too low, waystones don't exist... so many basic things, it goes on and on.

Meanwhile they want to release new big content. Well, thats nice, but I'd like the current content that isn't live yet to be polished. Then we can move into that. Your writers can be way ahead, planning the way. Devs are cleaning up the house.

League of Legends?

I haven't played it in a while, but Tencent is 100% owner. Its an incredible game. Probly one of if not the most competitively famous and watched games in the esports genre.

The matchmaking and trolling ruined it for me, I'm not sure who is at fault for that.

There seem to be mixed 'feelings' towards Tencent, and thats putting it lightly. The company isn't even a gaming company, technically.

I also think people in general are brainwashed that Chinese equals bad or something. At the very least, I think people very largely lean negatively towards the highest manufacturing center in the world at nearly 30%.

They are also directly connected to pubg and valorant. I think if someone said to me that the game studio that made league, pubg, and valorant, were coming out with a new game- I'd have interest.

Hell, I still love league, its just not easy to sit down and be locked in for that long.

A search:

Reasons for positive perceptions of Tencent:

Successful game development: Tencent also makes and publishes many high-quality and profitable games, such as League of Legends, PUBG, and Valorant, demonstrating that it can succeed in game development.

Vast conglomerate: Tencent is a technology and investment conglomerate, not solely a game developer. This means it owns stakes in many other companies, and the quality of its products can vary greatly depending on the specific subsidiary or studio.

Successful investments: Many of its investments have led to the development of successful games and a strong position in the gaming industry.

Other business activities: Tencent's success is not just based on game development but also its social media, instant messaging, and mobile payment app WeChat, which provides a strong financial backing for its gaming ventures

Overall, I don't think that is a good point. I'd look at the studio far before Tencent.
Drop Rates Pass here i come ... well played devs.
Even better alternative:

1. Launch the game generating a good hype (60€ / 100€ collectionist version). You have to say "we listen to the community".
2. Dissapoint almost all of players with a game half-completed.
3. Launch a expansion with a great hype too (40€). You have to say "we have listened to the community".
4. Dissapoint again everyone.
5. Lose your players.
6. Use the money to repeat the loop again.

Jokes apart, I think GGG is in a good way. I have paid the minimum to play the game and I will pay again because I'm getting fun playing the game and I want they continue with the development.

"Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."
