GornoDD downed shaper that;s nice but what kind of setup he used ?? he just swapped Shrapnel Shot for Barrage and other support gems ware the same ? or he had 2 swap gems as well ?did he maked any changes in the tree ? he also uses tornado shot instead of blast rain for trash, don;t think the support gems for tornado and blast rain ware the same. Post his character /gear/buld pls
He posted a pastebin somewhere but I can't find it atm so I just copied his setup that I had saved in PoB: https://pastebin.com/4ftB12Qh
According to him this was the best overall setup he came up with. Personally I don't like MoM or lack of strong defense layer so I made my own version (which I also killed Shaper with) that you can see on page 9 of this thread.
It's not GornoDD build, this guild have shrapnel shot and blast rain, GornoDD used tornado shot and barrage, BTW thx Bawtzki for your build and setups, gz on deathless shaper kill, now i know that you can kill shaper with shrapnel and blast rain
This build is amazing.
I killed uber queen with only 2 deaths at Vaal Oversoul.
Sure can do uber atziri deathless.

also what are the choices of unique items that is good with fire traps for leveling?
at the moment im using 2 goat horn and it doesnt seems to work out pretty good..
and also it would be nice to actually write when to take EB / MOM
or at which level you should getting witch class area nodes.
Use the usual Fire Trap + Freezing Pulse with 2 Lifesprigs from 1-12.
At lvl10 you can equip two Axiom Perpetuum which should carry you till act5.
Grab Lightning Trap at lvl12 and link it with multiple traps, added cold/lth, onslaught.
At lvl28 you can get Ice Trap. I used both Ice and Lightning Trap in a shared Tabula until lvl70 with whatever support gems yielded in the highest dps (Controlled Destruction, Added Cold/Lightning, Elemental Focus, Trap&Mine Damage, Crit Strikes) but I kept Onslaught for the 20% Movespeed bonus whenever you killed an enemy. At that lvl you can start using a Diamond Flask and use an Orb of Storms setup with power charge on crit, incr crit strikes).
At lvl 35 swap out multiple traps for cluster traps.
At lvl 45 I switched the Axioms with two Eclipse Solaris, at lvl 56 I switched one of them for an Obliteration wand and used that combo to farm to lvl70 (in Blood Aqueduct, ~200M XP/h)
___
You only need EB once you can equip Tinkerskin which is level 68. MoM is optional and the pathing takes too many points to go there before maps (imo).
Path throught the ele nodes at shadow start, grab all life nodes (Blood Siphon, Blood Drinker, Written in Blood, Herbalism) in the near proximity of your main pathing. Then start taking Trap nodes (High Explosives, Saboteur, Hasty Reconstruction).
After you've taken all the major nodes in the Shadow area travel south for Primeval Force + Master Sapper (and Acrobatics since you path right next to it anyway), then travel north for Blast Cascade.
Take all 2-point jewel sockets and fill out all the Crit nodes along the path after you're done with the trap nodes. Only then start grabbing bow nodes (Lethality, King of the Hill and Point Blank)
I'm currently a 87 Saboutuer and I spent the whole previous level trying different combinations for greater survivavility. I've checked both original route from page 1 as well as that one from 5, but I managed to create something much better.
Current builds in this thread have 2 main drawbacks:
1. underutilized Tinkerskin abilities (refill of ES and life)
2. Little survivability due to 2 reasons:
- Mind over Matter leads to death if you get hit by lot emptying whole mana shield and you're left with no energy to cast any trapps/skills
- Eldritch Battery takes away your 1st line of defense (ES shield)
If you follow my passive tree (profile should be open), you'll see I found a workaround that works like a charm:)))
The key was to remove in a smart way:
- last node from Chain reaction line in Ascention (i'm shadow)
- remove both Mind over Matter and Eldritch Battery.
I fixed mana issue with Essence Worm Ring, where I put my Wrath aura. This let me keep Wrath + 2 Heralds and still have enough mana to cast traps:)
Additionally, along with getting few I managed to vastly improve survivavility in following way:
1. I took some leech nodes around Vitality Void, that fills my HP pool like crazy
2. By removing Chain Reaction i got LIFE + ES recharged for each of my 12 traps, not only 1 :)
3. I've got additional armor in form of Mana Shield, that wasn't there before.
I made all the changes within 86 level and the difference between builds is following:
1. build from 1 page -> close to glass cannon
2. build from 5 page -> it's noticably better, but still you need to be careful in maps 8+, not to get killed. After throwring a trap i had to wait to ensure the group is killed and not a danger
3. My current build -> I don't give a shit about nothing up to Tier 10 maps. I just throw traps in group and start running into mobs. Once i'm inside of a pack, traps trigger and i'm fully filled with HP and mana shield at once;)
The clear speed in last build is around 50% better, because you have much less to worry about:)..
Another good thing is that at my current level (87) I've got direct route for another life nodes with every next level, so it'll be even better soon:)
I hope you'll enjoy this idea. I spent like 20 hours testing different combinations and this one really rocks:)

Hey! this looks super intresting, is it good against high tier bosses like guardians? or shaper even?
Yes! I'm making a quick update video that'll go over this all. It should be finished on the 17th. Shaper is ez pz on 30c up to 10 ex. The guardians are sketchy due to the lifepool and many of them will hit you at least once. Chimera and Hydra are easy, Minotaur and Phoenix are tough due to how much shit is happening. Personally, though they're doable and I haven't failed at them yet, it's not fun doing the guardians. Shaper is a joke though.
But again, you CAN do them. It's just not pretty for minotaur and phoenix.

Which of the unique trap jewels are worth using? All of them look pretty good. Additional traps / Chance to trigger twice / Flat phys and poison / Trap damage and AOE.
I would only use the Collateral Damage jewels. The others aren't worth it :)

Did someone try barrage already for the big single targets? According to pod it should do even more dps
GornoDD tested all of this thoroughly and came to the conclusion that Shrapnel Shot outperforms Barrage. But they are close.

Would this build work with blast rain and a signal fire quiver? That would give 100% physical to fire conversion. Plus the quiver and explosives expert node could give a potential 45% of damage as extra fire damage
Edit: cited the wrong ascendancy node
Yes. We actually use blast rain. It's not great for single-target, and due to how it works, it shouldn't be your main skill. Shrapnel Shot will outperform it handily for single-target purposes.
Definitely get Signal Fire, it was just not in the 10c budget I started with.

I am just thinking will Chain Reaction stop the trap being triggered by enemies? If I throw 4 traps at once and all have at least one enemy insides their trigger range, I will assume all traps will be prior to be triggered by enemy, and Chain Reaction will only be triggered if the traps are not triggered by any enemy. But sound like it isn't the case. Can anyone confirm that? You can test it with simply see whether you will gain more that 1 power/frenzy charge for each throw of trap. If it's really the case, I will choose Deadeye instead for new character.
Though that's true, Deadeye will lose out in pretty much every case to a Saboteur. I'm making a video explaining the ascendancy choice and it should be out Monday. With 6 traps on a 2 sec cooldown each, you will have your charges up almost all the time, even with how Chain Reaction works.

Use traps in general to level, lightning, ice, fire. Until Chin Sol at 62. I just ran whatever I found. Glacial Cascade traps will do well too. Use deerstalkers when you can for a 5-l. I still don't take MoM, GornoDD's version does. Both work well, but his requires more currency to get it way up there. EB I would only take when you're running Tinkerskin.

Hey thanks for sharing your build! (although I think your profile is not public at the moment.)
I was wondering what Ascendancy path you took if you did not choose Chain Reaction?
