hey, before colouring my shavronnes, what is the icicle endgame setup on colours? since u are switching the gems lately to include cold pen if i recall correctly

B/B/G/G/G/G

Cold pen instead of the red gem
Love this build so far, starting to get into the more serious itemization of the LL version. Have a few questions:

1. Your POB has your blood magic auras as Skitter + Bonechill, but the guide references using Flesh and Stone. Which is better?

2. The item progression talks about getting +300 armour, what is the significance of this?

3. Does PoB account for the ele pen/cold pen on wands properly, when shopping I find it hard to gauge what the pen is worth in raw damage etc. Believe my equipped wand is pretty good, minus the pen, finding this hard to upgrade.

4. Guide says you can run Alira or +2 passive for bandits, which is truly better?

Thanks in advance!
Hey there!

First time playing miner, i quite cant understand it yet, i put in like 10 ex on the build, but i am struggling to clear big packs even on T2 glacier, what i am doing wrong? Am i using the mines bad or my gear sux?

(i already have mark of shaper, but not enough lvl yet)

Please help a lad out :D

I'm not Beers but I have a ton of experience failing with this build so maybe I can point out some things that look rough.

I think Pierce is mandatory, without it, your traps don't end up hitting enough targets on screen and you waste time casting too many. Maybe you can skip it late game, but It's probably the 3rd or 4th most important gem initially.

If you're transitioning to this build you're going to hate your damage prior to 20% quality. I would just buy 20/20s, corrupted versions are all like 20c or less- and maybe 5-10c more if you want uncorrupted versions to try and Vaal later. Only 20/20 Pierces are kind of expensive at 50c+ and you can probably wait if you upgrade the other damage gems. Apparently a 21/20 Icicle is a worthwhile early splurge.

I think guide says use Inspiration over Empower unless Empower is level 4.

I see what you're trying to do with the Shield, but does that actually work with all three of those auras? Just to run two 35% reserved Auras in Boots/Helm/Gloves Blood Magic needs to be lvl 21 WITH a level 3 Enlighten Gem (BM 20 with Enlighten 4 is viable + the Charisma Wheel, but too expensive for my heart to look up).

Ghost Reaver is worthless point without Machina Mitts (and I've seen the point made across LL builds in this forum that without those gloves you're really going to want Zealot's Oaths if you're doing any content you're not one-shotting everyone/need health sustain). Sadly it takes a pretty big skill rework.

I took the Arcane Guarding wheel above some of the damage/crit nodes in that area of the tree. Felt like a noticeable boost in survival- might be worth testing out.

Personally found Steelskin worthless and swapped over to Immortal Call- feels way better for a build that likes to get one-shot as gear is coming together.

I can't tell without a character sheet but your ES feels low. I've seen people with 7.5k-9k complaining about getting one shot in red maps so even with decent defense there's a bit of a learning curve, movement spam required. I don't have a ton of PoE experience but this build certainly feels a lot less faceroll once you start maps- and like you I've found myself dying to content I assumed I would easily outclass early on.

Honestly, the build feels like a money pit if you're not experienced. I've spent the last week+ trying to shortcut items/recommendations and failing miserably. Luckily you already have the two core pieces, just need some gem upgrades and maybe so stat reworking.

What would you drop for aspect of the spider? I got rid of enfeeble but maybe as a survival tool it's more important than something else.

Much appreciated.

1. Don’t pay any mind to the items in pob, it’s just tree only stuff. Items are a league or 2 outdated.

2. Unsure about the armor, I don’t recall writing that in the guide. No need for armor anywhere imo

3. Pob is a bit wonky with PEN. It calculates it correctly, but doesn’t always take into account mob resists correctly natively. This league PEN is super strong though. Always use the gem unless you are getting 40+ natively on gear.

4. If you don’t need the res, the points are better. But either works well.

When you are leveling gems the damage can feel pretty off. Frequently you will want to use pyro until you have the damage to go full icicle.

My current character in league had made the transition pretty well, t16 A8 no issues at all. Feel free to take a peek if you need a few more pointers.

For CI your auras should be : aspect of the spider, skitterbots and enfeeble

For LL: aspect of spider, skitterbots, enfeeble on mana and disciple + precision (no enlighten) or blood and sand with enlighten.

If you want more dps at the cost of survival check out the last section of the guide.
Im not sure where to put in the Pen gem. PoB says I lose damage no matter which gem I replace.

The build does take some experience to know where the damage is coming from, but certainly doesn’t take a fortune to make it work. My current league character is pretty on the cheap and has been wrecking t16 A8 for some time now.

Some things you are right on:

Tree observations - yes, ZO tree is far better without machina mitts. Never use ghost reaver until you have them.

Gem levels - yes, gem levels are super important to the build and will often make a huge difference in how it feels to play, although even with garbage gear the build should face roll until red maps.

Also, empower is only good if 4, otherwise inspiration or cold pen

However, the shield setup does work. It allows you to use 2 50% auras and a 35% aura with just the 12% reservation nodes from the tree. I have a section about it in my guide.
