After miserably failing with a Poison BV Assasin, I've decided to try and save this god-forgotten league with this build. I've sold my old items, got some new ones, did a fair bit of respeccing and... I'm back to my crying corner. Defense feels really weak (although I still have some ES goals to hit), clear was quite nasty until I invested in to that juicy helm enchant. Now... Single target... SINGLE target... It's definitely single, cause we ain't together. Seriously, I feel like something is fundamentally wrong in my build and if someone could take a look and not make fun of me afterwards, that would great (char: BVBaliklis).
I know my gear isn't perfect, but I feel like I've invested enough to be able to complete a T15 map, or kill a conqueror.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with it. You just went straight into the same trap as many, many others that are unhappy with this league.
My question: why do you expect to speed clear the game and t15+ maps on a 5 link? This is literally why GGG went into the nerf-party, because this is not supposed to happen anymore to clear endgame like that.
Back on your build:
- 5link shavs, no 6link
- your shield misses roughly 200 flat ES.
- boots not enough ES, AND no enchant
- you're only level 89
- your wand is terrible
- no trap throw speed on gloves or belt (goos gloves though, don't need to change them asap)
As I've stated several times now this build needs investment to perform well. If you want to start the league with it go CI, go tanky, and outsubstain stuff. Going low life means you should have the dmg to really push it and be able to still afford a level of tankyness.
I used another leaguestarter to farm up 25ex before I even rerolled that char. And since we are spread quite thinly over the tree what you desperately need is levels. I personally am Level 89 or 90 as well right now and even with A LOT better gear I am not going for t16's. Thats ENDGAME. I am clearing t11/t12 maps and level 78 contracts. I am running around with 7500 ES and I have a breeze clearing those maps on something like 135mio exp/h, and I'll keep doing that for at least 4-5 more levels, maybe goin up to t13, but the ugly truth is this build takes time to set up for endgame, especially after this leagues nerf hammer.
To sum it up, there is nothing inherently wrong with your current setup other than your expectations. Farm another 30ex, invest them into the build and you'll be happy

Exactly what Vennto just told you. Last leauge it was possible to push far with 5 link but in 3.15 6link is essential. I invested around 20ex right now an I can easly clear t16. Killed maven and a8 sirus miltiple times. Stay on lower tier maps, farm currency and buy that 6link shavs.

Thank you for such a quick response. You're probably right, I've gotten used to clearing maps quite comfortably with ~10ex investment.
I guess I could try throwing some more exalts at this build, but... I'm not really a trap guy and will probably try out Bane Pop Occultist instead. Hope that one will match my expectations closer than the 2 builds I've already tried.
Anyways, thanks for the info, if I ever decide to come back, I'll definitely follow your advice. Cheers!
Edit: Ok, seems like Bane Occultist is busted too... I guess I'll keep trying with this one after all. *awkward*

Youll probably end up with the same result. Just lower your expectations and get to know your final build, no matter if it's this one or bane. From the quick look i got u invested the 10ex completely wrong. 6ex helmet with enchant but 1c wand, probably 2ex gloves but 1c shield and 5link chest etc. You see where Im going. If u swap to bane, don't throw the towel that easily. And by the way, i was lucky crafting a pretty sick chaos dot wand. Hit me up, we can make a deal I suppose.
I've actually edited my reply, but you were quicker to respond.
So, as I was saying, I guess I'll drop my expectations and power-through. I guess I'm just devastated my the changes (like many of us, I guess) and I'm just looking for a quick fix, but it seems like it's not happening this league. I'll follow your advice and see what happens.
Also, that wand and shield were way more expensive than your estimate, unfortunately :/

Then you overpayed by a landslight. My wand that I am currently wearing cost 140 chaos and is pretty much endgame. Only better one would be with a t2+ flat value without the craft and crit suffixes, though I can always fix my suffixes in the future anyway with harvest (which I already planned anyway).
My shield I've crafted myself as always, just payed 2ex for the ilvl 86 shaper titanium base. If I would find your shield in maps I would literally throw it in the vendor, that's how bad it is - ES on block only helps if you got reasoneable amounts of ES to begin with, sorry man :(
Yeah... Just bought a shield base, guess I'll try my luck on crafting.
Looking at your guide, I see the the main mod on shield is reduced mana reservation, but neither your current or your standard char has that. Is that no longer necessary? What do I aim for on shield after quality?

I don't see where you would read reduced mana reservation as a goal from the guide.
The mods you want, in order of priority:
1. High ES (at least 300, better 340+)
2. ES on block
And once you have those you are trying to round it up:
- dex/int + quality
- spell block
If you somehow hit high ES and +1 to all lightning spells, keep it. Possibly the new best in slot roll, but quite hard to craft.
