" Great feedback mate, great to hear you're having fun:) I would say that everyone that has tried Explosives Expert over Chain Reaction has come back to regret it ;P in the FAQ of the guide, there's a bit of a better explanation why you in fact lose single target DPS from explosives expert vs Chain Reaction. There's also some long reddit threads about it and its the reason you probably never saw a lightning trapper without CR ascendancy. But I think it's best you experiment with it to get that feeling yourself. Some 100+ pages back, there was also an experienced POE player that felt certain EE had to be better because POB says its strong and it has triple dps stat etc etc... but when he later tried CR he came back to explain how much better his ST dps was with CR. There's shortly said a lot of traps that you don't notice are not going off/doing 0 dmg, when you don't have either close to 200% area trigger stat or CR ascendancy. (That's why non CR builds typically use trigger area stats and/or use the trapper belt unique that makes traps go off 80% faster, so before they are overwritten by new throws). Anyhow, it's better to try it yourself like you're already doing. Then you can always look up the threads about it later on. Other notes:) A nice chunky dps upgrade would be to get Crown of the inward eye with our lab enchant for about 1-2ex if you can afford it. Your boot enchant would also give another big boost to your DPS, because for this build the effect is active 24/7. Other than this, it's just a game of upgrading ES gear, get more ES on your shield especially when you can afford or craft a 340+ ES one, you'll gain about 400ES in your pool. Gloves also badly need 100 more ES etc, but you are fully aware of it I think. It's great to see you've followed the guide so well though and killed awakener in the semi-decent gear you're in (no offense, it's an applaud!) Have fun:) āđāļāđāđāļāļĨāđāļēāļŠāļļāļāđāļāļĒ oestergreen#1184 āđāļĄāļ·āđāļ 7 āļŠ.āļ. 2021 19:03:40

I've added a "STATS" section to the guide (might expand it, as or if needed).
I've also updated the POB in the guide with more notes and an updated lvl 75 tree. Finally the POB has Alira as standard choice, but there are notes explaining why or if you want to change your bandit choice in your late 90s. Lastly I've un-cluttered the cluster section in the guide and updated the text. The full note list in the pob is below.

Throw a follow if you like the guide, thx:) MaxBlock 2021 version of my LL Lightning Trapper. Pro's about this version: Crazy surviveability with max attack and spell block. STR requirement is also made easy and with +32 all resists your gear will be easier/cheaper to obtain. My most recent character if you want to look at my setup/links, is found here: https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/oestergreen/characters Name of the character is DissentXTV Remember!: Cluster setup is your LAST points towards lvl 100 and Jewel sockets are your 2nd to last points, so around lvl 86+. Snowforged is a flex point, meaning its a leftover that happens to give the most dps for a 1 point investment, so snowforged is "the real" last pickup. This POB has Alira, but if you don't plan on reaching 100, then around lvl 94+, consider switching alira for +2 skillpoints to achieve your cluster setup even without being lvl 100. You could also reach lvl 100 and still get the +2 bandit choice to invest into Light of Divinity (dps). You could also use the 2 bandit points + remove snowforged and get the 3 point jewel socket near Shamanistic Fury. (higher dps potential than alira+snowforged) The tree is designed to be flexible with your last few points depending on your budget and whether you intend to reach lvl 100 or just high 90s. Note: If you lack trap throw-speed, remember it's craftable on multiple different items and/or you can pickup Expeditious Munitions in the tree. (Throw speed exist on jewels, shaper gloves, essence of zeal crafted belts and bench craft belts) Note: Many skillpoints are adjustable based on your own currency/budget and what items you happen to drop/obtain - simply adjust accordingly. Example: If you already got plenty resist and you got spellblock on a shield or via jewels, then drop the 4 points next to glancing blows and invest them into more ES or damage stats. Note: Another example is that i've picked up several jewel sockets, because I've afforded good jewels. I league-start my build always and I only go for jewel sockets when im in the 86+ and can afford decent jewels. Before that, you're better off investing those points into early trap damage nodes and/or survival. Note: At the bottom of the pob skilltree, you can select a level 75 tree, to see how you *could* level - you can also type !quickguide in my twitch chat to get a jpeg with all instructions for leveling. Around lvl 65-68 is usually a good spot for switching to full ES with CI (or low life if you can afford a shavs). Getting CHEAP 1alch/1chaos energy shield pieces is easy as they often are far far cheaper than equivalent life gear. Note: REMEMBER to pickup Zealot's Oath as soon as you go low life or ci, else your pyromaniac ascendancy won't do nothing for you. Note: We get shock from skitterbots, regardless that we're using elemetal focus in our 6-link. Elemental focus is the 6th gem to add. āđāļāđāđāļāļĨāđāļēāļŠāļļāļāđāļāļĒ oestergreen#1184 āđāļĄāļ·āđāļ 7 āļŠ.āļ. 2021 14:51:07

Quite a bit of extra dps if you can spare a bit of ES. And it's reasonably inexpensive. āđāļāđāđāļāļĨāđāļēāļŠāļļāļāđāļāļĒ Koreapsu#4969 āđāļĄāļ·āđāļ 7 āļŠ.āļ. 2021 15:49:46

" yes, that´s a good midgame-pickup before you swap into endgame rings and have other sources of damage. It´s a nice choice for unfinished gear. |

Hey guys, hope you're having a good time with this build as i am, i was hoping any of you guys could tell me where to go now defensive wise, i'm not lacking damage despite POB telling that i do around 250k avg hit(don't know if i have correctly set the calcs), i'm running t12~ maps and i do great damage but i'm feeling a bit squishy when trying to do hunter influenced maps, so my mind is telling me that if i try something like first syrus i'm going to be obliterated(i'm not an expert killing him tho), so that's it, i'll leave my pob/gear here:

Thanks for the in depth response oestergreen, really appreciate it. I've moved some points around, though still unsure how I feel about dropping Storm Drinker to make room for more jewels :).
Bought a scepter and changed jewels, dps is indeed looking better. Still working on how to incorporate some more ES, as I feel I really need to break into 8k-ish numbers. Thanks for the links (especially, I wasn't aware of using the trade site in such a way to search for multiple mods in such a way) so you taught me something new there too. Maybe I need to accept that my deaths and struggles at this point may come from me just pushing content beyond what I should be doing (did a7 Sirus today, and got a8 almost ready to go). Still much work to be done and more dps to accrue, but your input is greatly appreciated. Will post further down the line with how it's going! |

Maybe someone can help me out here as I don't have the time to sift through 200 pages of this thread. Having got to level 90 with this build I'm genuinely perplexed about the damage calculations of this build. I've uploaded my character into PoB and I've copied all the jewels over to my tree to figure out what's going on and the numbers just do not add up. I can't seem to get anywhere near the same damage. I'm missing something and I can't figure it out and or maybe I'm misusing PoB. I would also like to state again that I'm aware that I'm missing jewels and passive points. I used PoB to look into the future of what the numbers will be by copying the jewels of the OP's build. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much!

I taught i was doing pretty good but i felt my damage was way too low for bosses so i went on poe.ninja and saw multiple people with the same build having 400 to 800k average damage (i am currantly at 200k). What am i doing wrong, what should i get? My character : https://pastebin.com/RRHSM4nC |

I tried using 2 of these
for better survivability (chilling and freezing enemies) and I have to say, if you combine this with a ES on block shield and decent trap throwing speed you essentially wont die to mob packs anymore (unless there are some bullshit mods like culling strike). It means you wont be able to use a dream frags tho so you would have to get chill/freeze immunity somewhere else (on boots + flask for example) |

" oestergreen always said it's better to go for the normal jewels (double crit multi + spell/trap damage) before clusters, you should get the flat lightning damage boot enchant as it's 100% up, get doom cast and throatseeker on tree, get offensive auras lvl 21, also if you get the lightning resist to be largest probably wise oak 8% pen would be better than atziri's.
