Lightning Arrow- Assasin (Build Idea)
So this is my first actual post on the poe forums. Im posting mainly to get some feedback on a build i put a lot of time in trying to get working... This build focuses on scaling Lightning Arrow through the "Inflict Ailment as though dealing #% more Damage" multiplicative mods on (Voltaxic Rift) and (Painseeker's) as well as the innate mod in the skill itself.
I mainly did because i find Voltaxic Rift compellingly designed and for some reason i had an urge to build around it... All together this build manages to reach just over 70m dps on first hit to mobs, and 40m boss dps when it has full or low life. This build has very very high dps and manages to still have 4k life, max resists, and some avoid chance. Also its budget friendly (i think) so yay. The idea of Voltaxic + Painseeker gloves is cool. I don't know how the game calculates the two "as though dealing x more dmg" mods.
Do they stack or does the more powerful (300%) override the other (150%) ? In any case, I think you cannot put 100% effect of Shock. 50 is the default max, and you can get 60% with the Overshock cluster notable. On the paper, Vessel of Vinktar seems to fit the build, but nowadays, it's not a good flask anymore IMO. How do you calculate 40M DPS on standard boss ? First off, Voltaxic(VR), Painseeker, and Lightning Arrow(LA) all have the "inflict as though" mod, and these mods are multiplied to get a final value. So we have 195% more (LA) 300% more (VR) 150% more (Painseeker) (1 + 1.95) x (1 + 3.0) x (1 + 1.5) = 29.5 So that means.... inflict as though dealing 2950% more damage total damage, As for the shock value you can reach 100% shock value through Voltaxic Rift which has the explicit mod "Your Shocks can increase Damage taken by up to a maximum of 100%" To get end dps you have to multiply average damage by attack rate, in this case it would be 9,460,860 (For initial hit "damage at enemy full life") 5,476,233 x 4.01 = 21,959,694.33 (assuming nothing) 11,120,413.8 x 4.01 = 44,592,859.338 dps (assuming target is low life) Here is an example from the PoB fork its currently enemy is not on full or low life. Agreed for LA + Voltaxic + Painseeker = shock as though dealing 2950% more dmg and 100% effect of shock.
Good find. Agreed also for 100% chance to shock. 65 from the tree + 10 from Voltaxic + 25 from Valako = 100. But where do you get this initial hit at 9M DPS on full life and 5.47 assuming nothing ? From what I see on your image and your PoB link, initial hit is 189.733, which PoB multiplies by 4.01 attack rate, resulting in : "Total DPS inc. Ignite = 761.965" So you shock as though dealing : 189k*29.5 = 5.5M damage per hit, but you do not actually deal that much damage. I do agree, I forgot I was adding in the attack rate for initial hit which admitted is pretty dumb.
However the actual dps capability is much higher then 5.5m, assuming the enemy is at low life is raised significantly through the ascendancy node Ambush and Assassinate which grants "25% more Damage with Hits and Ailments against Enemies that are on Low Life" and 100% more Critical Strike Chance against Enemies that are on Low Life". The latter is also present for Enemies at full life. To hit full dps you are forgetting to add in the 4.01 attack rate so when the enemy is not on Low Life or full life this build still hits 5.5m x 4, so 22m shaper dps. There is also the possibility to exchange Vessel for a Diamond Flask of Acceleration, along with a max rolled Painseeker (which honestly shouldn't require much investment) the dps would be 8,645,351.6 x 4.19, to result in 36,224,023.2. so 35m shaper dps when it's not on Low Life. Also I just noticed if you raise Pain seeker's "inflict as though" mod to it's max value of 200%, then this build in ideal conditions not against a boss reaches a capability of 100m dps... " Totally agree on that, and I find the use of all the "shock as though dealing more dmg" mods very clever. When I was one-month-old into the game, I would have been unable to come up with such a build (I barely knew that elemental resistances were a thing :D ) But I still don't see 5.5M DPS in your build, much less 22M. In the PoB, I read 760k Shaper DPS, 1.5M on low life -1.3M on full life being impossible as an enemy can't be 100% shocked before being hit. PoB already takes everything into account : shock effect, attack rate, more dmg from Ascendancies etc. So I have no doubt that's it a good farming build that's T16-viable DPS-wise, but it may be underwhelming for endgame bosses -like most bow builds anyway. In 3.12, we will get this new Void Pulse skill that attracts enemies toward a black hole, so it will definitely help for fast clear. Thanks I really appreciate your input. Maybe it requires some in game testing, I need to level a char for that....
Although I will still fight that this build has a possibility for high boss dps, given shock can reapply each hit. I think PoB just forgot to include mod in end damage calculation. It does show the actual hit damage from the inflict damage as though mods, but it isn't added on to the total dps, not really sure why. If you were to hover over the shock duration it will explicitly show the hit damage aswell. Maybe I am overlooking something, if you could point it out that would be great. Well i always wanted to make a LA build, but i ended having it doing low damage, so your post caught my attention.
Sadly, you made some mistake in your calculation. If you go to configuration and check Sirus as boss or shaper/elder, the dps drop at 700k and pob count the 4 attack per second in that. Then if you go to calcs ( you havre to remove the 100% shock first) and check shock dur / mod : you have th details of the shock capacity. So to apply a 100% shock, your target must not have more than 3.348.817 hp wich is far from A8 Sirus. Though, this build seem's ok to map, but the low life might end up getting you killed a lot. |

Yes your very right thanks for pointing that mistake out.
Here is a new PoB: https://pastebin.com/HKCMg5mz I made a few more modifications given the knowledge and set everything to scaling against a A8 Sirius as you said. I switched the skill gem setup to an awakened one for higher dps, as well as adjusting some nodes in the skill tree for more defences (it still will get one-shot from Sirius's "Atlas Exile Orion Circle Maze Blast", as found from https://poedb.tw/us/Sirus%2C_Awakener_of_Worlds). In addition to that i raised the "inflict Non-Damaging Ailments as though" mod on Painseeker's to 200% as it should be easy to obtain. A8 Sirius has a total life of 238,806,351 (i might be mistaken, the life is taken from PoBDB and i applied the awakened modifier however my calculation could easily be wrong) There he has an ailment threshold of 128,980,628 To inflict any shock my hits need to result in at least 0.32% of his Life The initial hit average damage for a full life A8 Sirius should be 198,430.4, if you consider fire, cold, and physical damage cannot shock you can reduce the damage by around 2%, which would be 194,461.792 damage. Using this formula to calculate shock effectiveness This hit does have enough damage to result in a 5% shock therefore allowing the "shock as though" mods to apply. The following hits will result in DPS using the formula down below. The shock value can gradually increase although i do not believe the shock as though damage can apply a secondary shock so the increases to shock are probably neglegible. I will also be utilizing Skitterbots instead of Herald of Thunder as to guarantee a certain shock value raising the DPS significantly. Attack Rate (AR) Average Hit (AH) All bolded text is not added to final DPS in PoBCommunity Fork as of yet, it is the bonus hit from the "shock as though" mods and can be found by clicking on the shock duration in PoB (AR x AH) + (AH x (AH x 36.0)) Normal DPS: (173,456.9 x 4.17) + (4.17 x (173,456.9 x 36.0)) = 26,762,665.1 This damage will also increase upon Sirius reaching Low-Life due to the "Ambush and Assasinate" ascendancy node. Low-Life: (266,619.9 x 4.17) + (4.17 x (266,619.9 x 36.0)) = 41,136,784.4 Therefore assuming this holds true in-game which it should, this build should have the potential to deal 26-41m A8 Sirius DPS. Again for a low-budget, off-meta build i think its decent lol. anyways thanks again for pointing that mistake out, if im wrong about anything please, please, tell me. I love editing and working with this build so if i can make it better i would love to know, and if anyone wants to try testing it out, i would love to here your results. I hope this helps and thank you again. Btw, i low balled 2 values, considering one negligible as im not sure if A. and nevermind... none of this actually works lol... far too much work with no gain. all the "shock as though" mods do, is increase shock value...
