Witch seems best ascendency, but bottom and left half of the tree are close to blood magic. Using Malachi’s helmet for blood magic seems bad. Blood magic on the tree seems the only way it’s worth.

Rf elementalist for 2 stones then transition seems ideal for campaign. Don’t forget you can respec with gold in 3.27 so a day 1-2 swap is far far less punishing.

Yes, to head into the "Farewell to Flesh" I guess Jugg or Glad are probably best. Ordinary you take without mana as result slso the lone messenger, then go without auras or place them on spectres.

But also full buffed spectres will die in t-17 and ultimatums.
And in Legacy of Phrecia HoA without auras was more for Ubers and not optimal for T-17.

But the "Bitter Heresy" alone is already huge op damage and everything else after will be trivial again. 500M to 800M in cheap gear is already wild.

With Farewell to Flesh 2.5B up to 3B should be possible, that's attractive to for some special moments.

But for mapping exchanging bodyarmour and helmet is much, I do not enjoy to much focus only in high dps.

I myself prefer always the tanks.

For Ultimatums all ascendancies fit easy.

Overall in these leagues Trickster and Guardian are ahead as the HoA-tanks.

Also, PoB for 3.27 has already been released. It would be great if you could adapt the trees so users don't have to manually migrate them. Exploring alternative ascendancies in different loadouts with the recommended notables could be also cool.

Trading-tipps for leaguesstart Day One are added on HoA-Necro page 122 in the 3.27-news

There are already many Foulborn Skin of Loyals, +20% quality of socketed gems, that means a lot HoA-damage, for 6 chaos available in trade, and medium clusters for 1 chaos. Smooth!

Allmost all other gear is already cheap available too.

Aegis auroras 2 div are much cheaper as in last leagues day one. 3.26 they were traded 3-4 div. Ghastly theater 2 augmentation-orbs is before enough until t-15 or also t-16.

United in dreams is good used as starter weapon after Cybil's paw, 1 chaos, strong foulborn-mods also available. Do not use Envy. Get Unholy might or +30% quality to all minion gems.

In place of a watcher's eyes roll or buy a shaper ring life on spellhit, 1 - 5 chaos.
Then you can switch Cybil's paw to the United in Dreams or +3 Cold Iron Point dagger.

Only circles of nostalgia are 35 chaos, last league they were early traded 2 chaos. Path to one more reservation- or mana-mastery or to "presage" before you get one.

Elegant Hubris commissioned Cadiro for the hybrid-recovery-keystone Supreme decadence are at cheap 3 chaos.

Ball lightning of Orbiting and Tornado of Elemental Turbulence are already at cheap 1 chaos.

Sin's Rebirth was never so cheap so early: 1 chaos.

Other typical day one prices are: Maata's teaching +2 you get for 14 chaos, stygian belts for 2 alch-orbs (or darkness enthroned for 30 chaos), good ghastly jewels for 5 chaos, 7#p-voices 28 chaos, etc ....


I started a day later into league and then after some hours needed to interrupt 4 days. But with the genesis tree and some breaches eg I had already around 15 chaos in stash until lvl 50 in a few hours.

Since then I made a chaos each 2 breaches and a div was birthed already from the genesis tree.

I haven't had much luck keeping up with the Fortresses in maps. NPC always dies, might be a rough league mechanic for this build. Sitting at 60 virulence and not dying myself, but our crawler needs screen wide clear to keep her alive in fortresses I think.

I'm unsure if I should reroll now, I really wanted to try this out and push the build this league but I really do think it's the wrong league to do it. If anyone has any tips for keeping Ailith alive in fortresses let me know.

Start getting withers of the flask Sin's Rebirth (3 chaos) and the skillgem withering step (1 wisdom scroll).
This already easy doubles your damage.

You have a good starter-gear.
Now further also your belt, your gloves, your amulet, other flasks, weapon, clusters and your jewels can be improved much with a few chaos-orbs.
Maata's teaching +2 you get for 14 chaos, United in dreams for 3 chaos, stygian belts for 2 alch-orbs (or darkness enthroned for 30 chaos), ghastly jewels for 5 chaos, voices 28 chaos, medium clusterbases 1 chaos, etc ....

Also your "predator" or "snipers mark" should be exchanged from their focus on single-targets instead to other HoA-supports and curses better fitting for high density when you are not farming bosses ...

In the spoiler "Herald of Agony step by step" are your next dps-multipliers like virulences, withers, HoA-poison / or HoA-crits etc. shown to scale your damage much up.

I league-started 3.27 with this, as I love minions and wanted to finally try HoA.

I've got my two Voidstones now, but my defenses are a serious struggle. Damage is fine for now, but the Cyclone playstyle is getting me one-shot constantly, and I'm guessing it's mostly Physical damage.

I need help clarifying my next progression steps. I figure the big jumps are Aegis Aurora and good Abyss jewels, but are there any cheaper, high-value upgrades I should grab first?

Also, is Lycia the best for Bloodline? I can't consistently full-clear Sanctum with this; trap builds made it trivial, but this melee/self-caster feels way sketchier.

Any advice on Gem setups for juiced Breaches and general fast mapping would be appreciated!

Hey purgepurge!

Yes, the most effective gear-upgrade, especially in high density, is almost always aegis aurora.

But other stuff is strong upgrading also:
The watcher's eye is decisive, in these days it's dropping fast in prices.
Further permanent corrupted blood immunity on a jewel, permanent bleeding immunity, maxing the pantheon of abberath and brine king (later swapped to Arakaali), empower-support, 4 white socket-triad grips (already at cheap 2 div), unaffected by poison on boots to wear better helmets, and so on, are strong feelable as upgrades.

Yes, HoA is far not optimal in Sanctum-content for good damage-uptimes and it's more designed for facetanking.
You can add Arakaali fang + Writhing jar, the aggressive spiders are probably the best minions in Sanctum. The spiders attack also around the dungeon-corners. It's guided in gear --> weapon --> alternatives.
Also "predator" in the supports improve damage-uptimes a lot.

On forum-page 122 in the 3.27-news are the alternative bloodlines listed. Eg the Chaos-bloodline for much better vaal discipline-uptime should be tanky, or the Delirous-bloodline is useable too.
But Bitter Heresy is best and makes the whole balancing of damage and defence quite interesting (in ordinary poe-content you will probably never really need the default reached 250M HoA-damage).

I myself played only a few hours and did still not arrived in juiced breaches.
In ravaged blights I switch in the combination HoA - pierce - returning projectiles in the HoA-supports. So the range / aoe is trippled and HoA is also hitting mobs in his backside and bosses and rares are hitted twice. Try this in juiced breaches when they swarm you from all directions.
Later awakened fork also doubles the HoA-projectiles compared to pierce.
Asenath's-gloves on the AG add some chain-explosion.
Two good high-tier grafts clean up some mobs. Phantasms in the HoA-supports are worth a try too.


I am traveling in these days and back at desktop I will take a deeper look at your pob in 2 days.
On mobile I see that also your chaos-resis could be the reason for oneshots. Place 1 x 43% chaos resis on one circle of nostalgia.
And do you have corrupted blood immunity already? Maxed the pantheons?
And your flasks will be easy upgraded.

Supreme Ostentation is only second choice because we travel much across clusters in our higher levels. As hybrid Supreme decadence is much more tanky with a well rolled flask.
