Hello,
I am currently running this build on t16 maps and doing fine but when I look at my dps in PoB or POE overlay it says i only have 280k full dps. I am relatively new and I am not sure if this is a bug or if my damage is really this low. I have heard that most builds should be doing 1 mil + dps at this point. It doesn't feel like my damage is low, I am killing things just fine but the numbers seem off. Can someone look at my build and let me know what's going on?
Thanks
PoB is not very good at estimating Ice Storm's DPS. You need to use average hit, then multiply that by the number of storms and the frequency of hits from each storms if you want to compare to other builds.
There's a post with all the detailed calculations. I believe max storms was 42 times average hit? (Edit: it's 23) But you wouldn't usually have all storms on target, so 8-10 times average hits makes more sense as a baseline.
I was crafting my amulet and got pretty lucky with these mods. Any idea where to go from this? I have 2 open prefixes. I'll also need a lot of dex to swap Astramentis.
Craft a common prefix you don't want, exalt, change crafted prefix to something useful? I can't think of a better way of improving the amulet.
Hi. I just starting using the build its very fun, but i have a question can we somehow put in the build icespear or its a bad idea? and i dont understand how to lock icestorm on the big monsters?
I was thinking that Ashes of the Stars Amulet might be BIS for this build.
If so, would Counterweight or Charisma be the best mods for it?
If this ring is not going to be an improvement due to the loss of about 75 INT from the POB amulet, please advise.
Thanks
The skill does not benefit from the +1 level and we can work all of our auras without the mana reservation. Astramentis is probably better than Ashes, and the amulet from the high-end version is leagues better. Try it out in the high-end PoB.
I do have a question about Sanctum. Now granted, I skipped the league and Crucible due to real life being a pita.
Given that we are pretty much melee, do you try to use your bossing staff from afar with mobs in there or just whirl around the mobs, frostblink away, then frostblink back, hoping you don't get hit (and don't lose resolve)?
Just curious if I should keep the books I have for a EA elementalist I plan on making once I get more currency.
Sanctum is not hard with this build. You still need to learn the rooms and traps and all that, of course. And a lot depends on random luck with the boons and afflictions that you get in each run.
I switch some things for Sanctum:
- CWDT links out;
- Hatred and Discipline out, Blasphemy Frostbite and Temporal Chains in;
- Granite, Jade, Diamond flasks that gain charges on crits.
Frostblink on enemies and destroy them. They are mega slowed and debuffed by your Blasphemy curses. You take very little damage in point blank range. Arena traps suck ass, you just have to get good at dodging them. Better yet, avoid those rooms if at all possible.
I use 2 relics that make bosses do less damage and take more damage - mostly for Xenathar and Lycia. And 2 relics that give an extra option to the merchant. Not sure if that's the best strategy. Just something that works for me.
Don't forget to switch back to the normal setup after killing Lycia v1.

The best use of that amulet is to sell it and make another one for yourself. Hopefully with extra stats or an open suffix to craft them.

You are confusing DPS and Average Hit. Icestorm's DPS on a stationary target is approximately Avg Hit * 23.
