[3.25] Undying Vampire - Colin Robinson Build! | Exsang 2x Overleech | League Starter | Progressive

Hello everyone!

I played around with the POB and figured out a few theoretical improvements:
* Swapped the amulet for Replica Dragonfang, which provides +3 to all Exsanguinate gems == more damage
* Changing the amulet also allows us to re-introduce Herald of Purity (the amulet has additional Mana Reservation Efficiency) for even more damage
* Switched the passive provided by Skin of the Loyal to Wind Dancer instead of Zealot's Oath (it was recommended in the notes but not reflected in the POB) - this also allows us to optimize passive points a little bit to get full elemental avoidance
* Optimized passive points to grab a jewel slot for Ancestral Vision, which provides 51% Elemental Avoidance
* Switched the Mastery for Damage Suppression to "Prevent additional 3% damage", since the previous one is useless with full ele avoidance
* Improved the boots to also have a crafted 25% chance to avoid ele damage and an additional 25% chance to avoid ele from Eater implicit - this, combined with Ancestral Vision, gives us full elemental ailment immunity
* Switched the Minor God on Pantheon to Soul of Shakari, for additional protection against our weakness - damage over time, especially chaos (we don't need reduced ignite duration anymore, since we are ele ailment immune now)

I also added Exsanguinate of Transmission to the main gem setup, the numbers seem good. Would need to see in practice whether it's better than normal Exsanguinate? Anyway, I think it's better to ditch Chain (and swapping it to Swift Affliction for bosses) and instead run one of the Exsanguinates all the time, maybe switch to Exsang. of Trans. for mapping, if someone wants to bother

If Exsanguinate of Transmission is good enough for clear so that explosions are not needed anymore then maybe some better gloves can be used instead of Asenath's Gentle Touch. That being said, Asenath's Temporal Chains on hit and Blind are also very nice, so I think these might actually stay (maybe some expensive crafted gloves might be better? dunno)

Anyway, here is an experimental POB with all those changes: https://pobb.in/kXu6gjqbDuR9

I'm not including this POB in the main page yet as this is only theoretical POB-warrioring - treat it as experimental :)

Woah! Thanks for the upgrade!!!! Please continue with your upgrades, I used your build and I'm having a blast. I reached 100 for the very first time and of course that any improvement you can do I'd be happy to use.

Wow, that's awesome! I never made it to 100 myself :o

I've made a character to test the theories and prepare an update for the next league.

So far I'm only level 81 and I have noticed the following:
* Exsanguinate of Transmission feel really nice for clear, but the "hit" component is much lower (the "dot" component is higher though)
* Combining Exsang. of Trans. with Asenath's gloves seems like a great and cheap setup for initial and mid-game mapping, the clear is great
* I find Unleash to work great with Exsanguinate, as it applies all 3 stages of the DOT at a single cast. Especially important for Exsang. of Trans. as it relies more on the DOT
* The hit component of Exsang. of Trans. seems to be enough to provide leech to sustain ourselves, but I need to test that in more advanced content
* I think the late game gem setup will be EoT - Swift Affliction - Brutality - Cruelty - Controlled Destruction - Unleash. Possibly Unleash can be swapped for Energy Leech, but I will test that once I get to end game
* I think Vulnerability and double curse is not worth it. We spend around 5 points to get Whispers of Doom for second curse and Vuln itself doesn't do as much. I've experimented a bit and moved the points into a cluster jewel instead. That will provide us with about 7 mil dmg (vs current 4.8), but need to test in practice. This also makes it easier to craft the rings, since we don't need vulnerability on hit any more (or do we? more on that below). It also helps a bit with chaos res, since we can get it on the cluster jewel passives
* Asenath's gloves are great and cheap, but expensive late game gloves give us a 24% more damage, which is a lot. I'm not sure how feasible it is to craft those though, as they are double-influenced (hunter + warlord), will try to figure it out once I get there. These gloves also might help with chaos res, since we can slap it on them
* With the late game gloves replacing Asenath's, we lose Temporal Chains and have a Curse slot free - at this point it might make sense to use the "Vulnerability on hit" ring, but I will consider different options
* "Wind Dancer" seems to be a trap, I think it would be better to take a different keystone on Skin of the Lords (one which we otherwise pick in the tree, like Lethe Shade or something)

One question my friend, how do I craft those boots? (the new ones for the 100% chance to avoid ailments) I seem to be full of suffixes? Sorry if the question is too dumb.

Don't worry, no question is dumb, feel free to ask anything!

The ailment immunity boots are a theoretical upgrade, I haven't tried making them yet (working on that, leveling a character currently :) )

That being said, I have definitely used boots like that in the past, so it is possible (and not very hard if I remember correctly)

I will provide full details (basically a version 2.0 of this build) once I mamage to level up a character and test all the new theories. Just need some time :)

just a few questions, im incredibly new to poe and games like this, so i apologise in advance if this is dumb stuff to ask or makes no sense. I think i understand the very basics of this game but I still get confused with a lot. I was wondering if this build is something friendly enough for me to be able to follow, it seems really cool and fun to play but im worried its too advanced for me, and also I couldnt find anywhere with what to do with the bandits in act 2, does it not matter if i kill them or help them?

Hi there! Sorry for the late reply :(

This game is very complex, it's perfectly ok to not understand things. Take it easy, one step at a time and just have fun :)

This build is not very complicated but it's definitely not easy. It makes use of some mechanics that are a bit difficult to wrap your head around (double overleech, integrating ES and Life, etc.)

If you want a great starter build, I would recommend looking for Pohx's RF (he has a dedicated website for that).

That being said, you're welcome to try this one as well :)

Note that a new league is coming soon and I don't know how the changes (which we don't know yet) will affect the build.

Good luck and have fun :)

Hi everyone, here's how things look like for 3.25:

"
The most important change is that we lost Divine Blessing. We used that in The Vertex helmet to be able to temporarily cast a very powerful Pride, which gave us 70% more damage.

With that gone, I have replaced Malevolence with Pride (which is permanent now) and we use Crown of the Inward Eye instead of The Vertex. This results in losing about 25% of damage, but seems still good.

I will be honest that I have no idea what gems to put instead of the Divine Blessing setup.

Here are the full NOTES from inside the POB:
NOTES:
- Replica Dragonfang's Flight with Exsanguinate might be very expensive, because it is used by Exsang Miners - don't focus on it, it's a min-max item
- Experiment with the playstyle you prefer - either Exsanguinate + Chain (swap Chain for Swift Affliction for bosses if dps is low) - or Exsanguinate of Transmission + Unleash
- I personally prefer the Transmission + Unleash route as it is much smoother (one cast to get all stacks of dmg on enemies) - but later on you might have enough damage to drop Unleash and kill packs with a single cast of regular Exsang, or Exsang of Trans + Swift Affliction
- Feel free to experiment with the Gem Setup to fit your needs
- Exsang of Transmission has great clear all by itself, so we can drop Asenath's gloves for some better ones
- If you want to use regular Exsang, or find the clear speed lacking - Asenath's gloves are an easy way to fix it
- Exsang of Transmission + Asenath's are superb clear, but probably at some point you might want to drop Asenaths
- Divine Blessing is no more, therefore we drop The Vertex for Crown of the Inward Eye - a bit more dps, defences mostly the same
- I have absolutely no idea what gems to add to the 4 free slots in helmet - feel free to experiment. Righteous Fire gives a nice boost but is hard to maintain
- Maybe add some of the new skills there? No idea
- You might be tempted to use Perfect Agony but that will NOT work because it only applies to DoT from AILMENTS, and this is not the case for Exsanguinate

I will NOT be league starting this build, I want to play some meme melee build I cooked up (if it goes will I will make a guide for it lol). That being said, the build should still be just as good as it was previously - possibly better if I can figure out some good gems for the 4 free slots :P

I'm new to the game, so I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything, but this seems really cool. I'm really confused, though, because I don't see any sources of life leech anywhere here, other than the Watcher's Eye? I think I understand the overleech mechanic, and I see a number of sources of energy shield leech, but how are you also leeching life in the first place?

That would be the Watcher's Eye, yes. You do so much damage in this game that you don't really need to stack a lot of leech sources, it's enough to have a bit % of damage leeched and you're golden. The bottleneck with leech is the "maximum recovery per second" stuff. See wiki if you want to know the details of how leech works in this game (it's pretty wack): https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Leech

Anyway, Life Leech for Spells is very hard to come by - there are plenty of sources for life leech from Attacks, but few for Spells. The Vitality mod on Watcher's Eye is one of those few that has no "from Attacks", it's just "Damage Leeched as Life" - all Damage (well, all instant damage :P DoTs cannot leech), including hits from spells.

So yeah, our source of Life Leech is that single mod - it's more than enough (especially with Overleech in place). And the ES leech - plenty of that to go around
